Hey buddy nice myspace. Awesome, that you have Marco V as your number one buddy on your top 8.

Very impressive, seems you are very calculating in your set preparation. Im sure MARCO V really notices that when you go on GIGs with him.

Oh wait a second, you dont........ :nervous: :nervous: :nervous: :nervous:

who are you again...:nervous:

That's me on the far left, Marco in the center

see flyer from said show where I opened for him:

he's my favorite DJ, hence being in my top 8 list... so what?

exactly. there's a difference between just randomly throwing tracks out there without really caring what you're playing, versus having a selection of tracks that you know AT SOME POINT will be played, without planning out exactly what time of night they may fall (leaving room for some tracks that might have been thought of, but would fit perfectly in a spot that you hadn't thought of earlier).

Ummm your name is on the flyer with about 10 other nobodies...including someone named DJ TEDDY.:nervous:

your point? OH, you were the showstopper that sold out the event right?

um, that's 40 per month

I would say I wish I could get 40 a week... but i sincerely doubt there are that many being released that are decent

I know a guy who operates in much the same manner as I do, not really having a preconceived notion of what he's going to play when he goes to his gigs (so he said a few years ago, things may have changed).

I'm pretty sure you've heard of him... Armin Van Buuren (ring a bell?)

yeah, I'm a nobody, and am fairly content to be a big fish in a small pond where I live right now.

Handbags at dawn. Some controversial going down. There is more bitchiness goes on here than who gets to lay beside hef in the playboy mansion at bedtime.

Maytag, I didn't mean to underestimate your talent, I'm sorry. Personally I find it quite impossible to spin a "spot on" set without getting to know the tracks beforehand (Don't get me wrong though, I do "all freestyle" sets here and there, sometimes play b2b with my friends etc). It's great that it works for you.

would I expect someone to play a set of tracks of nothing but tracks they just got? no (and not what I was referring to earlier).

Would I consider it "quite impossible" to spin a set of a balance of about 80% known material to 20% new material? also no. i don't see how (based on your numbers) playing 3 or 4 new tracks you didn't know all that well would throw you off.

getting back on topic here, it would seem like most prog and trance is getting so formulaic from a song structure standpoint, that it's pretty obvious where to mix out of most songs anyway (especially in the cases where you a very familiar with a producer and/or label very well, and know how they tend to produce).

I wasn't trying to bash Darude (see beginning of my first post), hell I was even trying to defend him!
