| I wish people like that would just stop crying like babies and move on to other genres already. Maybe then trance wouldn't suck as much. |

Au contraire, it is precisely because the people who find something wrong with the status quo move away from trance that it's begun to languish and 'suck.' Since the only people who stick around are the people who are killing trance, it goes nowhere good. The minds of the past need to reject the status quo of trance and look for a way to restore that hypnotic effect. |

Christopher Lawrence
John '00' Fleming
And there's probably a load more, but I'll leave that to the people who are more into it than me. |

you obviously haven't heard any of their sets. the do play some psytrance but also loads of powerful progtrance (not the slow boring one).
also try Nicholas Bennison. he plays no psytrance. |

Christopher Lawrence psytrance? ahahahahaha
Fleming doesn't even really play psy most of the time.
(Which is good, because I'm no psy fan :) ) |

I agree with a lot of what he said but I can see how he comes of as arrogrant. Garteth is actually a pretty down to earth guy though. I had a chance to meet him a couple of summers ago and he was very down to earth and not into himself at all. Really oved his comments about the 16 year old kids graduation from Lasgo and producers that suck as dj's getting booked and playing pre planned sets. Darude did that here last year and I just sat behind his laptop laughing at his little cheater notes in word.
To get on track, yes his productions may sound a bit like the the generic that keeps getting released but they're not ASOT caliber by any means. I just wish more dj's would speak there mind a little more and call out the procuers and maybe raise the bar in terms of production quality. It's funny though, he says there are not as many labels as there was yet there is still much generic stuff getting released.
I personally think trance will not last much longer if things continue to go the route they're going. Once PVD, Armin and Tiesto start to slowly slip down the Dj Mag Poll voting, the genre will not have much left for it survive as it seems the DJ Mag is the major thing keeping trance alive with so many trance jocks on the list. All in all a good read and nice to hear some candid comments from a farily big name in the trance scene. |
