Time change totally effed me over too. I didn't have that extra hour to sober up after Sullivan Room on Sat. :nervous: :nervous: :nervous:

um yeah so this was my day yesterday:
(we made a joke that there was a full moon last night)

-broke up about 50 fights....some between teachers and students, some between students and students, and one because there was a huge brawl and the security guards suck here.

-had to restrain a kid from cutting/killing himself

-then the whopper: sat at this bench in the front of the school, waiting for a coworker for a workshop I was putting on. I was sitting next to another coworker (we will call her jo). She gets a phone call and leaves to take it. All of a sudden she is like passing out in hysterics and can not be controlled. She is "helped out of the building."

Find out an hour later that her husband was shot.....a few hours later we find out that he did NOT make it after staying alive for a few hours. :( :( Then they tell us that jo's daughter (who goes to school) is still in class and has not been made aware of what is going on. THEN we find out that the man who was shot is ALSO the AP's brother. The whole school staff bugs the out (because apparently everyone knows this dude), yet the girl doesnt even KNOW yet. Everyone is in hysterics, because they thought the injuries werent as serious as they were told initially.

They debate whether *I* should be the one to tell the daughter (great, I am the only therapist in the school......). :nervous: Thankfully, because it was a COWORKER who lost her husband, they decide to send the entire school home 30 minutes early for a "technical emergency" so that she could hear it from her mother before the students found out. THANK GOD!!! :(

Had such a weird thought process going thru my head last night, thinking about how this woman and her children, woke up in the morning, not knowing what was about to hit them......walked by her desk this morning, saw that she wasnt there, and it just BUGGED me out. is crazzzzy here.

Edit: as I am writing this, my coworkers and I are talking about it. Apparently this was an INTENT to kill kinda thing. AND THEN my coworker makes a comment "that is one lasy I will never date..." everyone laughs, and when they notice that I have no idea what they are talking about, they said that her EX-boyfriend was also shot in the past. :nervous: :disbelief :disbelief :disbelief :disbelief

WTF!!!!!!!!!!

Wow girl!!! I wish I can say I feel you but I can't....I have no idea how I would deal with something like this....this is sad as hell and ed up as hell!!!

The only death I have dealt with is recently of my grandma. I know it helped me cope when my co-workers were there to listen to me...but in a sitch like this...we really don't know how much this lady will be since her husband was killed so I would just make my self be there for her when she does come back to work but give her some space too bc at times she may need to just do her own thing. Sorry to hear all of this....now your wknd in MTL next week will definitely REQUIRE A SPA DAY :)

Story update:

my coworker is telling me the deets (and apparently its in the Daily News as well). The guy had to get his body IDENTIFIED by jo. :( :( apparently he got shot UP. :(

The story (rumor) goes as: The guy was set up by his own friend. :( The friend had him drive to a place to "pick something up" and when he got there, people were literally *waiting* there to shoot him. They didnt even take his wallet or chain, they just wanted him dead (I dont know why. I dont know the whole story.)

They know its the friend in the car who did it because, not only was he untouched, BUT one of the guys who did it turned himself in. My coworker thinks its one of those gang things....if you kill someone FOR the gang, and then go to prison, you get a higher rank or some . They think he purposely turned himself in because he would have higher power in Rikers.

^^ such ed up . :( :( to lose a life over gang :(

I havent even thought of how to react to jo, I havent even learned how to deal with my OWN reaction. I hear about this DAILY from the kids, but for some reason, this is hitting me a little harder (not SAD per se, just really bugged out by the whole ordeal).

welcome to MY work. def not boring in the least. :whip: :(
