well *I* am certainly not going to be bored at work tomorrow....looky what happened at my school (and is sadly NOT surprising!)

I was reading the sunday paper this evening and found out that there was a shooting at **MY** school in the bronx on friday night after a dance.

(my school, meaning where I work....an alternative school in the BX).

for s sake this is happening WAY too much here. like, ridiculous amounts. And to think, I have to go back to work with these faces tomorrow. in idiots.

Read: the bronx section of the NYPD blotter about Columbus high school.

http://www.nypost.com/news/nypdblotter/nypdblotter.htm

the funny thing is, I know exactly the store they are talking about, there is a bodega right across the street, where all these idiots hangout right after school and always start .

Isnt it nice that a few people got shot and it got like one paragraph in a 200 page-paper? its the norm here.

I ing hate NYC sometimes.

You work at Columbus!!!?!?!?! :eyespop: :nervous:
My roommate (andre) went to high school there. Not sure if things are any better now but it had quite a reputation back when I was in high school. They must have some serious security there if they don't let the staff carry any kind of protection. You don't have to teach lessons all day or anything though right??

lol funny thing is, last week I called this service to ask if they would run a workshop with our kids. The lady asked what school it was for and when I responded "columbus" she says "oh hell no I went to that school and I will never go back there again. Those kids are crazzzy." :nervous: jesus.

So I walked into school today and there were 5000 cops here. really scary. Its like a prison now, and it reminds me of East Side High from the movie "Lean on Me." They are officially not even letting kids in if they have any sort of gang related gear on (cant even wear colors or beads today and from here on out).

To answer your question, we normally have 2 guards at **every** door and metal detectors. They say the kid probably left the gun outside in a paper bag, which is typically what happens, but thats just rumor. There is very little chance a kid could sneak a gun in, but like I said, they are always up to outside of the school.

btw, I am the school therapist, not a teacher. I am sure I will have to deal with some of the kids who were affected by this (usually when there is school trauma, they have you do workshops/etc to make the kids feel safe again....)

Today is already crazy and weird and uncomfortable feeling. :( huge assembly. :( :(

lol I get sad when I see animals suffer, yet I have become so jaded that when I heard about the first 3 shootings, I just rolled my eyes and said "figures....tyipcal of our kids."

sucks tho, because when I heard about the separate shooting, it was with someone I work with a lot more closely, and it hit closer to home :( :(
