War, well thats just ing great, you think of all the countries surrounding Israel, and if they kick off on the Israelis the yanks then get involved the yanks get involved the Brits join the yanks, and I live the UK too, this has got a potential to cause a world war, if you look at the hotspots around that area, and I tell you one thing if anything big doe's kick off its quite a crazy theory I have but it could always happen, and people like me have to fight first thing I'll do is find that fat ing Ariel Sheron and kill the mother ******, I hate the bloke, he makes my ancestors Celts look like a group of tree hugging hippies and Celts are Barbarians btw if you didn't know that. When Shimon Perez was incharge the area seemed more peaceful, then Sheron takes over once Perez is assianted then he starts ripping up , yeah its being a victim of terrorism, but their like a nest of ants they'll keep on coming back and back and back, brace yourselves now for more attacks more innocent civilians being killed, I don't know what Sherons trying to do, is he trying to protect the Israeli people? I just see them taking pot shots at Palestianian coppers hardly some member of a underground terrorist organisation, that in turn pisses of the terrorists and they then start attacking, and after this latest bout I expect this next lot of attacks coming from groups like Hamas to be more viotile and more frequent, the one man I have a problem with in the whole area is Sheron.
Also looking at some of people in these middle east threads, they seem to have an Israeli flag but live in America, whats the deal her, are you born in Israel, are your parents Israelis, or are you Jewish Americans? |

Jews...means not only being jewish (religiously) but also be part of the Jewish PEOPLE. And the Jewish People's home land IS Israel. Spiritually, religiously and historically.
Sharon is written with A, Peres with s, and the "bloke" assasinated was Yitzhak Rabin. As for the rest..I wont start teaching u the whole story once again, id just recommend you to read a bit about the history and then judge. It makes me sick how every fool around the world thinks hes the one to judge and critisize this and that while not knowing ANYTHING |

So true, i have kept out of these rather heated debates for this exact rerason. Everyone has their own opinion. And some r not based on much fact. So i have my opinions, but i am not there, and dont no enough about it to say. But then again i dont think anyone does. :) |

I think i do know a lot about it..after all i lived there several years and have studied and read a ot about the conlict's history. thats why i feel legitimated to state my opinions. However, i wouldnt dare judging the Brits as for whats goin on in northern Ireland, nor would i side with any1 in the Cashmir Conflict..or the Yugoslavia war..Simply cause i dont know enough about it. For me, that is respect..

we need to say, stop this now, stop all of these suicide bomber classes, or else the UN is going to stop them.
if they follow and will obey, we'll make a state for em. If not, TOO BAD. You don't go over to the biggest kid in the class, call him names, punch him in the stomach, then ask for something.
just my oppinion. although the Israelis could have handled it better, it's the palestinians fault for acting like cavemen. |
ya right
who killed Rabin ? Sharon's supporters & friends AKA jewish extremists AKA racist people who want the death to all the Arabs
why did they kill Rabin ? because he was negociating peace with the Palestinians , him Peres and Arafat were almost going to find a peaceful solution to the conflict that was not violent at the moment comparing the actual situation
who is Sharon ? one big huge mothering pork who wants to kick all the Palestinians out of their land
why did the second intifada start ? because the big huge mothering pork dared to put his nasty dirty feet in our holy mosque ...
what would israel do if Arafat went and had a walk near the jewish holly Walls ? probably bomb the whole region with nuclear
now WHAT IS THE PROBLEM ? the problem is Sharon , he DOESN'T WANT PEACE HE DOESN'T WANT TO NEGOCIATE WITH THE PALESTINIANS , that's a known fact that i don't need to prove . Of course the Palestinians will use violence against Israel , since Israel (when i mean Israel , i'm talking about the government) doesn't want to talk , then fighting is the only way to get back the occupied territories . If you call the Palestinians terrorists , then the Israelis are terrorist too , don't they kill innocent civilians too ??
a few days ago all the Arab countries had a reunion in Beyrouth (Lebanon) , ALL THESE COUNTRIES stated clearly that they want peace with Israel , they are ready to recognize it and have normal relations with the country , all they have to do is to go back to the frontiers of 1967 and give the Golan region back to Syria .
what was Sharon's answer ? BOMBING BOMBING AND BOMBING , like if scaring Arafat is gonna change something , it will just increase the responds from the other side .
oh and one more thing davinox , the Palestinians DO NOT need you (the so-called big kid in the class) to create their own country , is it clear ? |

Of course now that they Police stations are all gone, they are moving to Hospitals and Schools.. just shows you the way they think, they could care less about the civilian casualties occuring due to their intentionful purpose.
Next time get your facts right, if the Palestinians can not stop the terrorism by themselves, then Israel has every right to go in there and try and stop it themselves. And less civilian casualties would happen if the 'brave' Palestinians would not hide behind them.

To err is human, but to really foul things up requires a computer. |
Don't tell me to get my facts right, when your "facts" are just outdated nationalistic propaganda.
What goes around comes around. How can you say you can oplice the Palestinians when you can't even police your own IDF? Their rules of engagement are disgustingly lax. I remember when the taliban overran Kabul and began to 'police' its people.
When you "accidentally" kill an innocent Palestinian, his brother, his father, his sons, become terrorists. When you bomb them, they bomb you. You bomb them again, they bomb you again. There is no "right" side to this conflict, just two people who refuse to cooperate with one another. Both sides want it all their own way.
You will bomb them again, and they will bomb you.
Be prepared to reap the whirlwind. |

Please correct my facts then. Go ahead, I won't mind. Do you lack the intellectual capability to do this, and therefore call these 'facts' outdated propaganda to appease your mind from trying to think? Your statement below seem to have no logical conclusion based upon fact or experience. Where were you in the past 6 months exactly? If you would have followed an unbiased news source (I know its hard to find but still..) more closely perhaps you would have had a different view of the conflict.
| quote: | | What goes around comes around. |
How can you say that? By saying this your are justifying the September 11th tradegy, you are justifying the fact that Iraqi's deserve to die since they have a bad leader. The world does not always operate on Yin and Yang prinicples, sometimes it is clear white and black. I guess you could have told the USA in WWII that Japan felt legitimate in its attack on Pearl harbor.. and that the Jews had it coming to them with that hollocaust thing. I'm sorry don't base your logic against such a fairy tale philosophy.
| quote: | | How can you say you can oplice the Palestinians when you can't even police your own IDF? Their rules of engagement are disgustingly lax. I remember when the taliban overran Kabul and began to 'police' its people. |
Yes I will agree with you, the IDF is not a police force, it is a military force. If you look at history police make a better police then the military. However it is not the Israeli will to police the Palestinian people, Israel gave Palestine 10,000+ small arms to police their own people when the 1993 Oslo accords were signed. However the Palestinians refused to police themselves, and instead used these arms and these police stations as bases of which to launch terrorist attacks against Israel.
Israel had tried to allow the Palestinians to police themselves, this has failed. Israel can not Police the Palestinians with their own police (they tried that and it didn't go so well over), the conclusion is that war has been declared upon Israel, and Israel like any country and it's governments sole and foremost duty is to protect the life of its citizenry. Therefore the use of military force is legitimate, and will be used until the threat against the citizenry is thwarted.
| quote: | | When you "accidentally" kill an innocent Palestinian, his brother, his father, his sons, become terrorists. When you bomb them, they bomb you. You bomb them again, they bomb you again. Again, you are living on your fantasy based philosphy that both sides share equal blame, if this were true, and your thesis above was true we would see a different reality. However this is the reality, the Palestinians bomb Israel, Israel retaliates. Ceasefires imposed (just check from Mar 14 till current day); Palestinains Bomb Israel... Palestinians Bomb Israel... Palestinians Bomb Israel... Palestinians Bomb Israel, Palestinans Bomb Israel. Israel calls off ceasefire and Bombs Palestinians.
Look! There was a ceasefire imposed, Arafat signed it! The Zinni mission, 15 days ago.. Do not tell me that you have been so blind as to witness it. Durning this time Israel has not retaliated for the Bombings and where has it brought it?? More terrorism. Therefore, Israel is trying to use violence to quell violence, at it sure as hell looks like Pacifism does not quell violence.
Secondly there is a right side in this conflict, it is the Israeli side. If you don't think so then you must follow the same logic to state that there is no right side in the conflict of the USA against the Taliban and Al Queda, are you willing to make that argument? As it is an impossible one to win... Just like this one is.
Thirdly both sides want it their own way; duh. But examine closely what both sides want:
Israel: Peace and Security (according to Oslo Accrods, Wye River, Camp David, Peace treaties with Egypt and Jordan)
Palestinians: Israel (according to the PLO charter, Hamas and Islamic Jihad charters, the history durning the past 120 years, Zinni mission).
| quote: | | You will bomb them again, and they will bomb you. |
Exactly! This is why the strategy of Israel durning this phase is to rid them of their bombs. If they have no bombs, they won't attack Israel, if they won't attack Israel, Israel won't retaliate.. conclusion, less people will get killed on both sides.

ok fastdjmp3 lets not start spilling unbacked opinionated lies. Sharon was not the cause. ok please go to the official mitchell report and get your facts straight, and i quote directly:

using violence i can accept, BUT the intentional targeting of innocent civilians is never ever acceptable, i dont care what happens that is the lowest form of humanity there is. i have no problem calling any palestinian who believes in that targeting or accept it as a valid means of conducting politics, a terrorist. infact i just have to go look at the CIA list of terrorist organizations and find hamas, islamic jihad, al-aqsa martyr brigade and a few others on that list, i have no problem calling anyone who supports or participates in that group a sub-human terrorist.
calling israeli's terrorist? you must be kidding me?!?! israel does not purposely target innocent civilians to their death. nor, unlike the palestinians, celebrate when this happens. civilian casualties of war are inevidable, though never are they the intention of the IDF, if such cases happen i can assure you that a just investigation -> trail -> sentence is made. i can actually turn this around and say that arafat is responsible for the death of his own civilians by not doing proper work to get rid of the terrorists and letting it come to israel having to go in and do the work for him.

yes, even sharon has been quoted of saying that he would consider a peace deal like this when an actual detailed plan is presented. but dont you find it kind of funny that most all those arab states to this day do not even recognize israel as an indepent country?

do you want us to do nothing and basicly commit suicide by allowing almost daily acts of horrific terrorism strikes within israel on our civilians. i am sorry but faced with this threat we have every right in this world to defend ourselves from this onslaught. and let me tell you its not about, "scaring arafat" as you put, where do you invent this from? if you were to think rationaly about this you would understand an operation like this is to unroot and get at the heart of the terrorist infrastructure. going into rammallah, arresting over 70 people with terrorist connections, gathering vast intellegence - from within the place where terrorism is being conducted and confiscating bomb making devices and other illegal arms seems like a good reason for this operation. and people say this has no purpose and is not a succes  also you guys say that this will cause more terroist acts... what a bunch of bull, we get hit just as frequently when we have restraint or when we take action. getting hit will always happen, why not do anything about it? but wait why the hell should terrorism even be justified, everything should be done agianst it and nothing israel is doing is moraly worse. |

I will back up Izzy here and state in short why Israel is good and should be sided with and 'Palestine' is bad and should be allowed to withstand the full brunt of an Israeli military force.
President Bush stated a few historic precedents in two of his speech's after Septermber 11th. They basically say these principles:
1. International Terrorism is an evil no matter for what purpose it is used, or who in the world it is used against.
2. Terrorism must be stopped, it is the duty of the world to purge itself of this evil.
3. Those that support terrorism, harbor terrorism, or turn a blind eye to terrorism, are terrorist.
Lets define the 'nations' first;
Palestine - the territories of the West Bank and Gaza given to the Palestinian people under the Decleration of Principles of 1993 for self rule.
Israel - the region of Annexed land recognized by Israel and administered by Israel.
Ok now lets say that Israel can be the most evil, villifiant, bady bad nation in the world, true devils. We can also state that the Palestinians are then the best, goody goody, freedom loving, peace abiding, law enforcing, Saints.
Using the above 3 principles we can turn this around quiet simply.
Palestine use terrorism (definition- violence directed at innocent civilians for the purpose of achieving political objectives. Using terror to do this) (USA Terrorist List).
Israel - Use their military to target the terrorist (Israeli Military charter - self defense).
From here we can already conclude that the Palestinians are evil, and that the Israel is fulfilling the duties directed upon all the nations of the world to rid themselves of this evil.
Let us support this further:
Palestine; If it does not directly use terrorism it does at least harbour, support, or lend a blind eye to terrorism (USA terrorist list of organization).
Israel; Defend's its citizenry not via political negotiations with terrorist (violates principle #2, #3) but using its military to defend its citizenry (UN Charter, Israeli Charter, Geneva Convention).
From here we can see that the Israeli actions, no matter how evil and villinified Israel might be is legitimate, and right in the scope of global humanity. Palestine, even if they might be saints, are wrong and a denoucement to humanity and mankind.
To further this point, as I am typing I am recieving word of yet another Palestinian terrorist action in Tel Aviv. This can not be justified, Terrorism must be eraticated from this earth, it is a disgrace for the ideals of mankind and humanity. If you ever wondered why some people call these people animals, it is because calling the human would bring humanity down so much.
Well there you have it anyway.
Yoepus

All I have to say...(and I won't say my religion) is a little quote:
Borders and religion are a thing of the past....If we live in the past we are doomed to de-evolve as a race.
North America works because the state and the church are seperate....As a governed society the Middle east is far far behind. There guvernment is on about the same condition as america was back in cival way days (if not before). Looking at this situation with no bias, because I don't favor one side over the other I can see that this situation is purely emotional. These countries need to sit down and talk it out....War will only make this already poor area even more detirorated and they will not evolve as a society with the rest of the world. It is so common to (100-44 BCE) Rome...where rome was the dominant force in the world and wanted to get rid of the barbarians.
America being rome this day in age, we have learned from past mistakes of not to force our society on others. So, wisely so, America stays out of this....but the big question is when should they get invovled and put a stop to this....becasue with america's influence as the only super power in the world...IT is the job of america to police the entire world....and it just scares the hell out of me that A man as blatantly dumb as George W Bush is calling the shots.......hold on kids....it's going to be a bumpy 4 years....I say have fun well you can and make sure the trance music is loud so we can't hear the war going on :) |

Nice try, but you don't get out that easily.
You make statements, you have to back them up. I can back mine up, and will readily do so if you want. Shall I?
It's quite cheeky to tell someone to get their facts straight, and then refuse to prove your own.
The burden of proof lies on you, the one who claims he bares the facts. I can prove those police stations were destroyed by Israeli forces, so I DO have my facts right.
| quote: | | Your statement below seem to have no logical conclusion based upon fact or experience. |
Israeli forces blew up a series of Palestinian police stations in retaliation to the killing of 2 Israeli soldiers. They have done this on several occasions.
That is a fact, and I can prove it.
| quote: | | Where were you in the past 6 months exactly? If you would have followed an unbiased news source (I know its hard to find but still..) more closely perhaps you would have had a different view of the conflict. |
I'm not taking any sides, I take CNN and BBC coverage with a pinch of salt, and I'm always cautious of their findings. I've followed it closely enough, and no my views are not corrupted by living so close to the scene. Sometimes when you're stuck in a clique only those outside can really see the problems.
| quote: | | How can you say that? By saying this your are justifying the September 11th tradegy, you are justifying the fact that Iraqi's deserve to die since they have a bad leader. |
Don't try that one old boy. It's pointless making me out to be some sort of extremist for saying "what goes around comes around". In fact you'll find it in the back of any dictionary under the "proverbs" section.
If you bomb terrorists they will probably try to bomb you back.
Take the above statement as an example. It's a fair statement, even you must admit that (though you'll try not to). The above statement does not imply nor state that the terrorists actions are correct.
| quote: | | The world does not always operate on Yin and Yang prinicples, sometimes it is clear white and black. I guess you could have told the USA in WWII that Japan felt legitimate in its attack on Pearl harbor.. and that the Jews had it coming to them with that hollocaust thing. I'm sorry don't base your logic against such a fairy tale philosophy. |
They say that he who walks around with his eyes closed gets a shock when he bumps into things.
You're saying it's a fairy tale philosophy to try and commit actions which minimise the backlash. You'd have made an impressive WW1 commander on the Somme, because that's where your views belong.
| quote: | | Yes I will agree with you, the IDF is not a police force, it is a military force. If you look at history police make a better police then the military. However the Palestinians refused to police themselves, and instead used these arms and these police stations as bases of which to launch terrorist attacks against Israel. |
I think everyone agrees that the Palestinian terrorists need to be stopped, where we disagree is how. I don't agree with appeasing terrorists, however I do agree with appeasing families whose homes have been bombed. There are innocents caught up in all this on both sides, and from a Palestinian perspective, a lot more civilians are dying than terrorists. Whether this perspective is true or not doesn't matter, both sides try and manipulate the figures, but what is important is that draconian law enforcement and downright genecide will cause widespread resentment. Expect to be treated as you treat others.
| quote: | | Israel had tried to allow the Palestinians to police themselves, this has failed. |
I think you should be careful on your wording here. Conflict has gone on for 60 years, virtually without any consistent peace. Once could argue thatmany Israeli commanders would like to invade Palestine, and would happily see Palestinian police fail as an excuse for military action. There are some extreme right wingers both in Israei office and in military command.
| quote: | | Israel can not Police the Palestinians with their own police (they tried that and it didn't go so well over), the conclusion is that war has been declared upon Israel, and Israel like any country and it's governments sole and foremost duty is to protect the life of its citizenry. Therefore the use of military force is legitimate, and will be used until the threat against the citizenry is thwarted. |
You seem quick to portray this as a "defence of the realm", but some of the more outspoken military commanders in the I"d"F would rather see the Palestinians "crushed". Who struck the first blow? Well that's a question that goes back 60 years. To assume that everything the Israeli Army does is in self-defence is incredibly naive, espescially given their track record of killing civilians.
| quote: | | this is the reality, the Palestinians bomb Israel, Israel retaliates. |
It's easy to sit in your little Ivory tower prophesising the truth and only the truth, but this is something half the world disagrees on. But I know you're right, cos you just are.
Who struck the first blow and who is responsible is a debate going on the world over. You think the Palestinians are the ones who refuse to throw down their weapons and keep starting the fighting. Millions of people disagree with you.
| quote: | | Ceasefires imposed (just check from Mar 14 till current day); Palestinains Bomb Israel... Palestinians Bomb Israel... Palestinians Bomb Israel... Palestinians Bomb Israel, Palestinans Bomb Israel. Israel calls off ceasefire and Bombs Palestinians. |
A very "CNN" version of events. The IDF are not the most sympathetic soldiers in the world, and I think burnt down Palestinian homes got missed out of your little summary.
| quote: | | Look! There was a ceasefire imposed, Arafat signed it! The Zinni mission, 15 days ago.. Do not tell me that you have been so blind as to witness it. Durning this time Israel has not retaliated for the Bombings and where has it brought it?? More terrorism. |
You're dealing with human minds here, not wooden objects. These people have grivances that go back decades, that go back generations. You might think you can just frighten the life out of them but it doesn't work.
You say "no retaliation". Once again this is according to CNN reports. The IDF have killed many civilians, their tactics are reckless. This is debatable, of course, and CNN are pro-Israeli because 1/3 of US foreign aid goes into Israeli Arms.
| quote: | | Therefore, Israel is trying to use violence to quell violence, at it sure as hell looks like Pacifism does not quell violence. |
Violence breeds violence. This has been evident in every conflict that has ever existed, and Israel is no exception.
The Palestinians would say they are "trying to use violence to quell violence".
Who is right. You reckon it is you, millions of people disagree.
But of course, I live in "fairy land" because my view is not the same as yours.
| quote: | | Secondly there is a right side in this conflict, it is the Israeli side. |
Millions of people will continue to debate that every day.
Personally, I take neither side. It takes two to make an agreement.
| quote: | | If you don't think so then you must follow the same logic to state that there is no right side in the conflict of the USA against the Taliban and Al Queda, are you willing to make that argument? As it is an impossible one to win... Just like this one is. |
Aaah yes, I was waiting for this one. The "you're either with us or against us" argument. An awesomely pathetic attempt to make anyone left wing look like a terrorist and demonise their views. It's a classic, cracks me up every time.
I'm not taking any sides. I feel inclined to copy and paste this comment, because some people find it so hard to grasp. Just because I'm not so pro-Israeli that I worship the US flag, it doesn't make me a terrorist, it doesn't mean I share the views of terrorists, and it doesn't make me a psychopath!
| quote: | Thirdly both sides want it their own way; duh.
Lol, now this one really did give me a chuckle.
You look at the want of the Israeli people, and then the want of Palestinian terrorists! What a comparison!
Why not look at the Palestinian majority, I believe it looks a little bit like this:
Israeli population (majority): Peace and Security
Palestinian population (majority): Peace and Security
| quote: | | Exactly! This is why the strategy of Israel durning this phase is to rid them of their bombs. If they have no bombs, they won't attack Israel, if they won't attack Israel, Israel won't retaliate.. conclusion, less people will get killed on both sides. |
You forget to mention that the Palestinian terrorists won't just hand over their guns, and that thousands of innocent civilians will die in the process and the whole middle east, with it's complex politics and close alliances, could be destabilised. Apart from that it's a grand idea.
| quote: |
Be prepared to wisen up and pick a side. |
There are two sides: right wing nutters, and civilians. I take the side of the civilians, the ones who want peace and security.
Your version to the two sides seems to be:
Millions of Good, honest, Israeli people.
Millions of Evil, bad, nasty Palestinian people.
That's not how I see it. There are some right bastards in Israeli office and in the Israeli military. If you want I shall cite some examples. There are some righ bastards on the Palestinian side too, mostly terrorists. The bastards are the ones wrecking this for both peoples, and they are on BOTH SIDES. |
