lol - I went to take a nap before heading out, woke up and it was 11pm already so there went that plan. :) I am going to an "obscene t-shirt" party on Sat night so I'll see you all in May at JZ & Nic if not a Loft night beforehand.
4:20! |
Beforehand would be cool, but when you really want to be there is afterwards... the Loft has agreed to let us do an afterhours at the location. They will not be serving alcohol, but I'll have plenty, believe me.
We are kicking everyone out for 15 minutes @ 2am, then letting everyone back in. Dirk Technic will play an encore set as soon as the afterhours starts. |

paolo mojo ing KILLED it last night :eyespop: :eyespop:
ID's
Pryda - Armed was huge in the club, as we all expected it would be.
Ito & Star - Sudoko Kid [getting play from jz/lee/little mike]
Drug Addiction - Let's Talk (Extract) [from the '07 howells EM]
aaaaaaaand onto dubfire...
well he gets on w/ one of the worst intro's i've ever heard and commences to just drop large song after large song with no regard to flow, he played some remix/re-edit of orbital - chime which was as if the producer thought, "hey i have this bassline/kick what old synth can i drop over it?"
suffice to say we weren't feeling DF at all, especially after the masterful set paolo had just dropped. After some douchebag hit me in the face with his glowsticks, splitting open my lip, we bounced.
note to douchebags who feel the need to glowstick at gigs, don't do it on the ing walkway to the bathrooms where everyone is constantly moving.
i love how the clubs have a dresscode policy that is strickly enforced now, but glowsticks and "rave" attire is ok.

Completely agreed that Mojo should have been the headliner, what I heard was fantastic and I would've loved to made it there for more than the 30 minutes I got to see. It might have actually been reasonably possible to move around on the dancefloor if that were the case too.
While I don't entirely share your sentiments about Dubfire (I thought the intro was actually pretty cool), I can't really say too much about the set in general, I didn't hear much of it. After Mojo, I went to go have a smoke on the roof. I tried to go back downstairs a couple times, but after ten minutes of constant shoving, and retarded douchebags EVERYWHERE, I resorted to the rooftop for the rest of the evening.
Standing outside listening to some crappy old school hip hop DJ was the place to be, unfortunately. Is it just me or does it seem like Vinyl and the Church are like this more often than not these days? That's why the Halliwell show on Thursday was such a nice change of pace. |

I haven't been to the Church in some time but every time I've been to Vinyl since probably the last time JZ was here it's been ridiculously packed with the 'get drunk and pull' crowd, if you will. It seems as though the crowd took a big shift for the worse right around when the Real World came out and they hit Vinyl, I'm not sure if it helped it become more of the weekend hot spot...
The crowd for Dubfire was getting bad and I'm not sure how it got towards the end of the night, but Digweed was unbelievably crowded with the same type of s shoving all night. I don't think I've ever seen the Church or Vinyl more rammed than that. |

Hadn't thought of that.
...one more thing to add to the "Ways that 'The Real World' made the world a worse place" list. |

I don't know what you guys are on about... i had to fan myself down after DF got on the decks lol :p
seriously though...i was pretty disappointed with dubfire...i always thought he was the better half of deep dish, but now i realize why they work together...
mojo was dropping bombs.com...real good set. hopefully next time we'll get a headline set because you know he'd blow it up... |

| I don't really know if there is a better half of Deep Dish... they've both been pretty bland over the last few years, IMO. |
