BTW, did you actually make it to all of those events in Miami?

Yes, I went to all events listed there in Miami and let me tell you. I was too exhausted!!! Next time I won't plan as many events, I maybe able to enjoy seeing DJ's that I wanted to see.

Hey send me a PM and we can exchange contact info and make sure we meet up this time, Cheers!

come on denver pick up on artists touring now. Look at Armin, PVD, Ferry, Christopher Lawrence, Above & Beyond, Oakie, J00F, Kyau and Albert - all of these will be in cali during the summer.

So far the summer events here are real weak as far as trance goes - step it up. Dont respond with trance attacks guys, just saying, usually there are more but it seems dead so far.

Only thing looking forward to so far is Infected Mushroom and Global Dance and Joop

One of many reasons why I don't go out much in Denver anymore. Trance artists are neglected in booking on a constant basis. I think is it the laws we have here that really do not allow nightclubs to thrive like on the coasts. Having a club monopoly here in Denver does not help the situation either. The owners/promoters here have clause in contract that all artists sign in booking which limits their ability for others in Denver area a chance to book them as well. I rather travel and meet new people anyway.

6/2, Sat, Christopher Lawrence @ Vinyl, Denver, CO
6/16, Sat, Ferry Corsten @ Vinyl, Denver, CO
6/22, Thurs, Rank 1 @ The Church, Denver, CO
7/21, Sat, Global Dance Festival w/Tiesto, Richard Vission @ Red Rocks, Morrison, CO
9/11, Oakenfold "AND UNDERWORLD" @ Red Rocks

Decent GOOD House/Techno:

5/25, Fri, "Uddermadness 1-year Anniversary" w/Bookashade & Gui Barrato @ Shelter AND Michael Mayer @ 2 AM (upstairs), Denver, CO
5/26, Sat, Richie Hawtin vs. Magda @ Vinyl, Denver, CO
6/14, Thurs, Donald Glaude @ The Church, Denver, CO
6/29, Fri, Funk D'Void @ The Shelter, Denver, CO

Trance is winning in my book.

But this is a non-edmdimensional list - I post ALL events regardless of type, quality, or level of mayhem.

Ok, I am going to have to disagree with you here.

Do you have any idea how many artists Denver gets in comparison to even cities like Chicago or DC? Almost EVERYONE and their mother comes through here on tour. Sure, they might be 2-hour sets but most of the US gets the same treatment except for a few major cities like NYC, Miami, LA, or Chicago. Okay, so the Church, Vinyl, Shelter, etc are owned by one guy - but that one guy sure as heck brings in the DJs and tix are still $10 presale no matter who it is (except for Tiestor, all hail Tiestor). And contracts like that are standard in any major city venue - Lawler couldn't play Sonic in Toronto due to his contract with the Guv and their owners. If a DJ wants to sign an agreement like that, its their choice.

Sure, its not ALL trance but what fun would that be? I'm not the biggest trance fan around but I do enjoy quality trance - heck, I'm flying to San Fran to see Sander Van Doorn this summer!

At any rate, hope to see you out sir - I've never seen Rank 1 so I might be out to the Church that night.

I have to agree with the competition thing. Though there are different promoters like Triad and Ryan and so forth, the club ownership is the same. It is as though Vinyl is dead during the school year and is up and running during the summer only. The church is the only main club in denver. Sure, there are lounges that have djs, but as far as clubs go, its mostly the church. ask around and many dont even know what club vinyl is besides from word of mouth. The church lately has suped up its look with lighting but vinyl is a bat cave when someone plays there.

As far as acts go, the church does bring in many acts, id say one trance guy every 2 months - which is eh but will do. seems like the focus for trance is the summer - yea the djs are touring then but they have the entire year. Many leave during the summer and its hard to full the clubs up. Also, unlike many promoters, since there are very few, the massive events are yearly - no new massives really from year to year with locations being the same.

For the city Denver is, it seems there should be more electronic music events and promoters and clubs. What is out there now is doing good but with more, the competition will go up, and result simply with many many fans being happy to get more events. Id rather pay 5 - 10 dollars more to get a choice then have to pick an event or two that i like every 2-3 months at the select club/massive.

Oh and The Church could turn those lasers on every now and then - i mean come on. The lights are so plain, simple spot lights (just more of them), and a disco ball so high (because of ceiling hieght) that the effect doesnt really work well unless you look up haha.
