I know these few month have been really bad in Seattle... the scene here is probably dying. |
What are you talking about? Seattle's scene is thriving. Are you thinking of stuff like Trance and the more mainstream House? Sure, those nights might be lacking. However, that's not the scene that, in my opinion, people should be focusing on. There is an absolutely fantastic, growing and strong scene going on in the Capitol Hill area. I've been doing work with both the Shameless and Decibel crews to help put together some solid nights. Just look at the Broken Disco monthly at Chop Suey, the nights have been packed with some of the most diverse electronic music, and you'd be hard-pressed to find such fantastic lineups at any other venue/monthly in the city.
Bonkers is doing a great monthly at Rebar, and Sweatbox is putting on a new monthly on Capitol Hill with some great out-of-town talent.
In addition, our local support is ing insane. There are plenty of brilliant locals putting out music that is on-par, if not exceeding in quality than much of what is out there. I'll just go through and throw out some names...
Lusine, Gel-Sol, Jacob London, Dave Pezzner, Jerry Abstract, Kristina Childs, Ctrl_Alt_Del, Recess, Adlib, Michael Manahan, Skoi Sirius, Kadeejah Streets, Truckasaurus, Red Pony/Rebecca West, Introcut, Novatron, the list goes on, man.
People sold out Decibel Festival last September, two nights of all-night partying over NYE at Neumo's, and there's an amazing monthly on Capitol Hill along with afterparties packed to the brim with people until well past sunrise. To say that the scene is "probably dying" is absolutely absurd. Get out there, man. Check out more shows. NWTekno.org is a great resource, or you can PM me for some upcoming shows that I'd recommend.

I know one of the guys from Sweatbox - he's from Denver actually. I've seen some very quality bookings from him lately, like Kyle Geiger a couple months ago.
Hope to make it out for Decibel one of these days, heard last year was fantastic. |

| EDC both in LA and Colorado are pretty weak so far. Hoping EDC LA will get much better. |
