that's what I thought. (and raps looked weak on that department from the pre season games too)
I've been saying this for like a year now, but the Raps need that rebounder. Or else we won't go far in the playoffs.
I'm willing to give up Ford or Calderon if the price is right for a good rebounder |
I'm not willing to give up Calderon for anybody. Ford yes, but not Jose. |

agreed.
apparently Colangelo agrees to some extent. He's said something along the lines that he received more calls in the off season about Jose than anyone else...and nothing was even worth considering. |

I dunno about you guys but I'm worried more about the paint defence and rebounding more than point guard situation. We lost more games last year because we couldn't rebound and defend inside more than because our PG couldn't create plays
Though I admit, after Ford and Calderon, Raps don't have much of PG. |

Our defense/rebounding is defiantly where we have to be concerned this season but I do not think we need 2 worry to much.
We had the same problem last year and dealt with alot of extra issues during the season, for example losing our #1 rebounder for 12 games(boshes knee i believe)
losing garbajosa for the end of the season
then losing bargnani until the playoffs when he was to out of shape
bargnani's rebounding will only improve
bosh's rebounding will hopefully stay consistent
im sure that within the next year or 2 Toronto is going to bring in a big name rebounder
we have to remember even tho we did great last season we are still very young and an up and coming team |

| You could even say that we really overachieved, considering how weak the East was. |

Jose could easily start on half of the leagues teams and average 15points, 7 assists, 2 threes, 4 boards, 1.5 steal, 47% fg, 35% 3fg, 80% ft.....
he's probably make boston even sexier with their glaring need of pg |

Half? I'd go as far as saying he could start for 80% of the teams out there. Even so-called "contenders" like Miami, Boston, or Houston could vastly improve if he started for them. |

That's much more than most teams can say.
Anyway, I agree, we need rebounding help. Big men take time to develop, so saying bargnani will only improve could take a while. In the meantime, we still can't defend the paint, and our rebounding numbers are still gonna hurt.
I don't know if we should package Jose or Ford for a rebounder. Personally, without either one of them, we'd lost more than just simple numbers from our one spot. Losing one will make us easier to scout, plus, when you've gotta defend the 1 for 48 minutes, it really exposes the other team's bench. Personally, I think that our combination at one is one of the most signifigant reasons we have a decent team.
Aside from that, we can't go 12 deep all year. No one will know their role and it's lead to inconsistency in what each player brings when they check into the game. But seeing we did go 12 deep in game one, I smell a trade coming. We have too many wing players, and it seems that by playing our entire squad, BC is dangling trade bait for teams to offer up that rebounder we need.
As a side note, I don't know if any of you are familiar with this website, but it's a good one, posting links to all the local press for every major team in every major sport everyday:

Hmm...interesting theory. I just assumed that they went 12 deep to gauge our performance and see how everybody plays together. I think we should put Dixon out for trade purposes. |

Nah, that's a stretch dude. There are alot of really good point guards out there. 50% of the teams is a fair number. While Jose is good, I think alot of you guys are making him out to be better than he is. He has been good in his role as backup, he shined when given the oppurtunity to start. But over the course of 82 games.....???
I think he could do it. I think he could do it very well......in 3 years. |
