I'm not going to argue about the sound being bad because I found it far better than other times Ive been to KH and I am no expert to say specifics. but if you feel so strongly about KH sound not being good, refrain from parties there instead of complaining all the time since you apparently have sound engineering experience and cannot handle it

AGREED...I should stay away from KH. KH may have been better this time, but its still a horrible place for world class talent to perform.

"Complaining all the time"....well, hardly so if you've read my other notes over the years..I give credit to good performances and sound when/where due. This note is to inform those people that were also disappointed that night that S&D can and will deliver other times in other settings...for people like you who thought this was great, what f-ing difference is my note going to make to you?? Ignorance is bliss, enjoy!! LOL.

So many good people there, so many I haven't seen in so long. I couldnt go 5 steps without running into someone.

Music was great, yah it had its slow moments but for teh most part Diggers was bangin them out and everyone in the place was rockin their socks off.

5am was way too early, I dont remember the last time a party ended at that complex before sun rise?

Hope they come back for the people who have been waiting to see them together.

You took the words right out of my mouth Jay.

ur right... i did think it was great... in fact i thought it was better than MTL. please refrain from calling me ignorant because you have no idea about who I am, where ive been or what i do.

so conclusion of this is:
1) you aint gonna be at KH ever again
2) theres no point in this pretend debate because our views aint gonna change
3) no one is an expert at things like sound at clubs unless you actually have a background in sound engineering

I don't know who "they" are...but if that was better than average sound for KH, then I stick with my statement:KH is a ty venue for good music. Its my opinion guys...you don't know who I am either, but people who do know me know that I'm picky but frequently correct on acoustics issues.

And apologies if it appeared that I was name calling...I didn't call anyone ignorant, but was saying ignorance of what I consider to be acceptable sound is bliss if you don't care or can't hear it. Peace.

For what it's worth, as a sound engineer, the sound at KH for Digweed was 7/10.

Yes, there are places where there was too much bass and there are places where the mids were a little strident. However, this is the physical nature of sound and is true of any venue. It could be just the dimensions of the room created standing waves at frequencies that were particularly obvious, it could be a poor ring out in the room, it could be the spectral distribution of the tracks being played combined with whatever in-line EQ Digweed was using...who knows. Move around the room and find a spot more to your liking.

I found that most of the time I was able to carry a conversation without screaming, or being screamed at. I think the line arrays to either side of the stage could be better directed, in that the bottom edge of the lower drivers was a little too low to the crowd for my taste, but was totally safe and acceptable.

9 times out of 10, it's your perception and where you are standing. Move ten feet and listen critically, there should be a noticeable difference. Not to mention that alcohol, drugs and the hundreds of voices in the room alter your perception, making accurate judgements difficult. Add to that the fact the room was tuned while empty, and the hundreds of fluid-filled sacks called people absorb a remarkable amount of the energy. When coupled with acclimatization to the SPL level at the start of the night, the overall level needs to be increased over the course of the program, which changes the way the sound interacts with itself and the characteristics of the gear being used.

Basically, if you don't like what you hear....move.
