i was extremely disappointed that sasha was a no show. digweeds set was SO WEAK. i tried getting into it but his performance was as weak as his montreal performance @ the pepsi forum. sasha owned in montreal and i was totally expecting him to own this night...

siiigh...thank goodness there was tons of ppl i know. that was the best part of the night! =)

what was so weak about his set?
-tune selection?
-flow?
-mixing & matching?
-anything else technical?

I thought he played really well considering the MIA Sasha wasn't there, then again their 2 styles are different and that may have an influence on your statement?

For me I found that:

- Selection of tracks were pretty bland, save for a few good gems here and there. There weren't many 'whoa' top level tracks.

- Flow (or lack there of) wasn't consistently progressing at a stable rate. I didn't get it at all.

- Mixing, matching, and technical performance was spot on.

i think richard would have felt the same way regardless of wether or not Sasha was there. He did not like digweed, which not everyone does. If Sasha was there, he probably still would not have liked Digweed.

Also, IMO the fact that Sasha was MIA, had no bearing on how John was going to play that night, except for the fact that he had to play longer. Diggers is Diggers. He does his own thing. He tells his own story.

and a great story it was.

music is so subjective... you can't really judge an event on any ones experience but your own...

I disagree.

The thing about versus sets is that both DJs feed off of each other, and while putting their own mark into the set, somehow still manages to mesh together well.

I don't think Diggers does his own thing when he's playing with Sasha. He probably knows how Sasha thinks better that Sasha does and adapts what tunes to play accordingly.
