Quite possibly the largest hypocrisy I've ever seen. "Hey, we can invade countries all we want, but YOU can't!" Can somebody tell Cheney that's not how it works!?

U.S. President George Bush says the Russian military has launched a disproportionate response to Georgia, the former Soviet republic trying to reclaim the disputed territory of South Ossetia.
In an interview with NBC, Bush said that "we strongly condemn the bombing outside of South Ossetia," and shared his concerns with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and President Dmitri Medvedev.
Meanwhile, U.S. Vice-President Dick Cheney said late Sunday that Russia's military action against Georgia "must not go unanswered," as the conflict over the disputed territory continued to escalate.
Cheney made his remarks while speaking with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili. The United States has historically given its support to Georgia, which has been lobbying for inclusion in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. |

wtf. how are we not supposed to be filled with hate when your mother russia had us occupied for fifty years, were always threatening to occupy us before that, killed our people, sent thousands of them to syberia, how the else am i suppossed to feel about russia?
and now they're doing exactly the same like they did with lithuania, always play it safe like they're not the aggressors. |

Right or wrong, and whatever the actual reasons are behind the Russian invasion. I have to say I'm glad Russia stepped in before the conflict escalated into a systematic ethnic cleansing - something we know Eastern European countries are fully capable of (Kosovo anyone?). Reality is that if in 5 years all these heinous war crimes came to surface, with tons of grave sites littering the country side. Then everyone would be like "Wtf! Why didn't Russia step in and do something?" There's no way to know if that would really go down or not, but I'm glad no one in the Russian Parliament decided to wait to find out.
The other side of it is of course the oil. Which is sad that human lives have to be shed over it. Not only is that expensive as hell but now people have to die... there will be blood, after all. |
