as a child because a number of older people in russia really don't like him...plus the whole glasnost and perestroika thing kind of took a life of its own and spirilled out of control. it wasn't all gorby

Gorby overall was a better president than the things that Yeltsin and Putin have done. Yeltsin spent all the money while Putin hordes it all, controls/owns the media, nationalized the energy industry, etc.

So in the grand scheme of things, I would prefer Gorby over Putin/His puppet Medvedev.

Oh and MOST older folks preferred communism because they had no worries about living. Now they have to work till they die because they are poor as .

if i had to wait in line at the post office for my crappy pension i would be pissed too...i don't know actually being in russia for a small amount of time is interesting. you'll be surprised at how people think about the "glory days." three years ago i was in moscow right before the big may day celebration and "celebrated" in st petersburgh. i felt like it was surrounded by communists...

as a child of course. i guess no one i was around hated on him, but everyone has his critics.

my only complain is that he could've made the transition a bit easier by not appointing an alcoholic to lead afterwards. talk about perpetuating stereotypes.
