I like this track. I remember hearing tracks like it back in '94-95 and thinking that it was really a move forward in complexity compared to a lot of tunes that were coming out then. It was a huge departure from a club I worked at in '93. The DJ, there, insisted that crowds only liked things that were predictable. The bar staff pretty much had his set memorized. Then I heard music like that tune you just cited.
Cool stuff! Very experimental and it wasn't chasing the crowd off the dance floor. I sat in a corner, stone-cold-sober and train-spotting. Awesome. I couldn't predict what was coming next but everything that did, I liked.

by overproduction I meant lots of glitzy special effects wooshes, crashes, etc
in terms of a 'wall of sound' i really have no issues with that, it can be beautiful!

Firefly from Mike Foyle is more like mid-90's trance in my opinion.
It's much more hypnotic, driving, ecstatic than Blueprint

The first few ambient minutes were like GREAT!
The 4/4 part i liked less, a tad too repetitive, but still quite good.

No, I said some sounds in it and therefor this track remembers me of mid 90's trance and then I mean the part (without any beat), breakdown at 1 minute and 14 seconds.
It's rhythm and overall sound is very current like most ASOT stuff. I really start to think I listen or hear tracks differently then others. If a track as an ASOT stuff like sound in it its crap regardless of what's more in the background. That's just a feeling I get.
I even wonder whether it is the rhythm, beat which makes people don't like ASOT stuff. Probably the same reason why I don't like most minimal, ambient and e.g. Sven Vaith and Apex Twin tracks.
