Awesome. Animal Collective can be really crazy and chaotic (which is good for some) but they also have some "half-crazy" moments in which they sound excellent...such as this one.

Wow, that you noticed that, I must have forgotten I did.
I think it really contributes to this threat, but doesn't every reply?

I really like this forum ,because people here have more knowledge in music than on normal tranceforums (e.g a forum where my top 10 gets deleted because it included no ASOT crap).
Trance is a state of mind and no formula. I think loads of minimal tunes have more trance inside than this ASOT-crap, which has actuially nothing to do with real trance music. Or do you think that any of this ASOT-listeners know Future Sound of London, Orbital, Orb or KLF, which is real trance for me.

Well, I do, and some friends of mine do too.
IMO Scooter's Cosmos is even far more trance than what in your opinion is. But that's okay because it's just a matter of personal taste.

Most people listening to ASOT are people who's journey into EDM just begins, later they'll find out about those also, assuming they will take electronic music seriously.

I hope you recognise that nobody else would consider any of those acts "real trance".

Well they may induce the trance pheonmena, but as mentioned none of those acts are technically trance, not even classic trance.
Orbital is a confusing one though, I never understood why he's techno and not trance?

ing epic; I had no idea they had a new album out. Thanks for the heads up. I like how there's a definite Panda Bear slant to this song.

Orbital genre-wise mostly belong to the early-90s "intelligent techno" movement (giving rise to later-term-IDM, although the term IDM nowadays is used to refer mostly to Autechre/Aphex Twin copy-cats/production-styles)-the golden era of electronic music- and as every "intelligent" artist of the period (Black Dog, B12, Biosphere, Aphex Twin, FSOL,The Orb, ì-Ziq, LFO, some releases by Pete Namlook etc.) they used to "flirt" with everything- techno, trance, ambient, house, breaks, world-beat, ethnic, dub etc. They surely have some german trance elements but presented in a more elegant, slower/more gentle way and i believe that some "epic" tracks such as Halcyon+on+on, the Lush series etc. had influenced the mid-90s style of epic house/progressive trance/house. The early 90s was a very revolutionary free-style era were many musicians had a style of his/her/their own. It was like the psychedelic 60s and 70s prog-rock but substituting the quitars with synths, drum-machines and samplers. Too bad that after 2000 (probably earlier) things started to become more "standard" and "clinical".
