it was live. so i am not sure what they will do.
i am assuming they will do something like a whole special. this was apparently done on the fly as they heard about it. the one guy was just finishing his shift and was called back to do the hosting part.
i hope they do a really official one with like the videos streaming for the whole day.
when i heard the news about 6:30 i went home immediately and i was looking for something on the radio and the radio stations in Toronto failed in a major way. there was nothing. all i want to do is listen to the songs on repeat and watch the videos. |

I was in wonderland when I heard about this news via text message. I was so touched by this tragedy and felt like I lost someone really special in this world. :( :(
At least now he is finally free and doesnt have to worry about any more bull in his life. :sadgreen:

Unbelievable. U have to be either born in the late 80's or 90's to remotely even say that MJ had no influence in the music you listened to growing up. The guy single handedly revolutionized the music video and was responsible of making MTV ...MTV. I always thought he was a freak, and a weirdo...but his music was unreal. Him as an artist was revolutionary, and he was the greatest musical icon this past 3 decades. All the biggest artists you can think of right now can credit MJ as an influence and inspiration to their own rise and the reason they even got into the business.
I'm sorry, but if you say him... u know about music..or dance music..and you have no business being on a music forum. |

The same for Lenny Kravitz on Twitter.... sooooo many artists were inspired and motivated by MJ...
I actually still always pull out a remix of thriller during some sets, MJ is timeless....
my 80 + year old nonna who barely speaks a LICK of english told me...

He's a UNIVERSAL ICON....
def a big loss to this world. The man did a lot for charities, children (make the easy joke.... but really?) music....
MJ was mad incredible yo.
Troubled at times... but when you're made to live in front of a camera, having the pressure he had to live under.... giving everything you are at all times for your fans, always trying to TOP yourself... pleasing your peeps, your fans, your fam....
it's def not easy.

What I can never understand is how people think you have to be all in and on one side. Michael Jackson was the greatest ever and if you don't agree and say that you're an ass. As someone who was born in the early 70's to say that he wasn't a huge influence in music or in this world is completely ignorant. He is right up there with Elvis, The Beatles, and Nirvana is terms of musical influence. He also brought hope to many people and a dream of freedom. I remember watching his video's over and over and being mesmorized by them. The one moment I will remember for the rest of my life from Timewarp a couple years ago was when Richie dropped Billie Jean at 10AM.
Saying all of that I also feel that the way he lived his life and what he did I don't like and agree with. Just becasue I didn't like the man and am not going to shed a tear for his death doesn't mean I don't appreciate what he has done. I don't judge anyone who is upset and sad because of his death and at the same time I don't think I'm this awful person since I'm not sad. |

warning the following will "sound" very insensitive:
I'm sorry I cant be so touched by his death....reason being, he already reached the top after making all his great music and hasnt really done anything recently. So its not like he was in the middle of something big that just got terminated. He has been trying to flee all the unnecessary controversy over himself by moving to bahrain and laying low for the past few years...this was an out from it that could've saved his rep a long time ago (i know it sounds really bad to wish death on someone)
I honestly had a 2 second "woah" when I heard the news but I cant shed a tear for someone I never knew personally (or even had a drink with). It doesn't mean I have no respect for the person, its just that I know the world moves on and in this case, the music DIDN'T die (please people...stop ripping off don maclean who meant that for buddy holly) |

I never once said anything about him not having an influence on music, or his music wasn't good, his music was good and he did have an influence for sure. Like I said, his songs were sik, no doubt about it, I still sing to them when I hear them, but I didn't know him personally and I'm not going to be sad about it.
