What a Canada Day! Here are some of my videos:

For me, it was all about the people. I had such a fantastic time partying with a good crew of TA's - a first for me at Guv, and quite frankly, long overdue.
Spent most of the time in KH because after seeing so many techno/tech house/house events lately, I just needed a trance pick-me-up. It was pretty good. I can't say I heard more than 2 or 3 tracks that really did it for me, but everyone was riding on such a great vibe that it was simply infectious for me ;) All of the TA's I shared the night with: thank you - you really made the night for me, and I needed it in a bad way - Tara, Michael, Geoff, Peter (honorary TA for the night)... way too many to list. Awesome. Made me realize what all my downer guv nights were missing.
Skybar was meh for me. I mean, I dig lawler - however, I just wasn't feeling being on a patio - especially due to the weak as hell sound. However, I had to try it once I suppose, to know that I won't care to do it again ;) I definitely would have preferred to see him in a dark, seedy room.
Overall, the sound in KH was weak as well. I use the ER20's, and I suppose after so many good Footwork nights, I just missed the definition of a close, tight sound system. It just felt like they didn't have enough balls pushing through.
Overall, a solid night for me - as mentioned, more for the friends and good times than anything else.
Special mention: Jon Jon in the Orange Room - surprisingly picking up my vibe even higher. Cheers!

All I can say is :)
Best set of the night definitely goes to Mr. Hawtin.....AMAZINGGGGG I finally got to see him for the first time and I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. He played exactly how I wanted to hear. The vibe in there was incredible, best I've ever seen it in Guv main room at midnight. Ferry was great, but to be honest I preferred his set for 12 year. But walking into KH as Made of Love was being performed was definitely perfect timing :) <3
I missed Cosmic Gate, but meh I wasn't really planning on seeing them anyways, Richie took predendence.
Menno was Menno, I cannot POSSIBLY be disappointed in any set by him! <3<3<3 Sad he finished early, but so glad I stayed to the end for his set. THREE DRIVES - GREECE 2000!!!! :DBest part of the night was when I was forcibly sitting myself down to attempt at resting my legs for the boat cruise the day after (mannnnnnnn was staying seated in KH ridiculous hard for me!) and seeing Menno walking along the side of the KH. How no one noticed him is beyond me since he's giant :D but needless to say, resting my legs was no longer a priority. <3<3<3 :D:D:D
After Menno's amazingness, I went up to skybar, Lawler was playing some decent stuff but nothing that was rocking my world quite like the trance that I just left. Nice to be outside however.
Great seeing everyone, even though there were quite a few people who were there that I didn't run into! <3 Guv all access events!
beefy k
Fack should have went to this. But I had to get up at 5:30 so bun that.
LightsOut
Anyone know who was playing on skybar when the fireworks were going off?

Hawtin was really good from what I stayed for, but it was very 4am Guv, and I just wasn't feelin it yet...topped with the sound system ripping my ears up and I wanted to hear some trance.... So off to see Ferry I went. I was so wammed by the music I was beginning to wonder if I'd make it through the rest of the night. Listened to Ferry for about 2 1/2 hrs before making my way back to the main room to catch the last part of Dubfire's set. He had the room moving... dropped Grindhouse... danced hard and waited for Lawler. Main room Lawler house was back. Brought me back to the "Lights Out" days. I was pleased.
Made our way to the Skybar a little after 5 and waited for the man to return to the upstairs decks. Yes.. he played a lot of the EM... but then he drifted off to some good dancing tracks. I enjoyed the set a lot, especially when Lawler dropped some of his past year Skybar songs which made me smile a lot. Hugs&Kisses while waving the Canada Flag around.... winding it down with Simpler....
Great Guv all access event.
The Highroller
Although some disagree with me, and I'm kind of biased, Richie killed it IMO. I wasn't expecting it because of his ty set time, but that was the best set I've heard him play in Toronto since 2004, and I've seen him every time he's been to Toronto since 2002, except for his apparently ty set at Mod Club in 2007.
He came on a little after midnight and proceeded to pound it out right from the get-go. Normally, I don't like hearing that kind of music at the beginning of the night, but because he was the only DJ I came to see, I didn't care. I don't think I've ever seen the vibe like that in the Guv that early. I danced my ass off in my own little world for the entire duration of his set. The only thing I could have asked for was that he closed. That set would have been waaaaaaaay better at 5am.
I checked out the Kool Haus for a bit and enjoyed seeing a few hands-in-the-air moments that I hadn't seen in years. Surprisingly, I spent an hour in there (yes, I like my girlfriend that much :p), during which I saw many dropped jaws as a reaction to my presence in the trance room.
I went up to the Skybar around 3:30am. Spent a while chilling and talking up there as the vibe was pretty social.
Lawler came on and the anticipation started building. The vibe was pretty flat until he dropped Late Night Tuff Guy ‘I Get Deep’ around 6:00 which made the place ing go off. From then on in, it was party time. This is such an amazing track.
The weatherman predicted rain and clouds, but Canada Day 2009's sunrise proved to be one of the best sunrises yet in the 5 years that these sunrise sessions have been happening.
I wasn't excited at all for the sunrise part of the party, and almost didn't want to like it being the jaded reveler that I am (and after the major disappointment that was the 2008 session), but when that sun came up, and when experiencing those few moments of party madness at the front of the booth, it made me realize that the sunrise sessions still have their magic. They may be over-hyped, too packed, and too sketchy, but these parties are something that makes Toronto unique, that many people in this city look forward to, and are really one of the biggest parties each year.

Menno De Jong played an incredible set. He really got the crowd jamming.
