Richie Hawtin (the only reason I went) was very good. He played good bangin' techno in spite of his ty time slot. I stayed for the whole 2 hours.

Hung out in or around the Orange Room from around 2 to 2:30, enjoyed that. I think it was supposed to be Jon Jon playing that set time but I couldn't really see.

Then chilled outside for a bit and spent the rest of the night in the Drink. Osawa either played late or was tag-teaming it with Adam Freeland. Either way, some pretty groovy house tunes until close to 3:30 I think. Adam Freeland was playing Adam Freeland stuff: decent danceable breaks with a generous helping of angst. Nothing incredibly original or mind-blowingly funky, but competent. I only really stayed until 4 so he may have switched it up later.

The good thing about the Drink was that population density was sane. The not-so-good thing was that the temperature was about 986° C and I had forgotten to bring my own personal air conditioner unit, or at least a bag of potatoes to deep-fry in one of the sizzling sweat puddles.

Oh, and I did attempt to catch Ferry's set in the Kool Haus, but after 26 seconds I was feeling an overpowering urge to knock back 8 pills, fling my shirt into the crowd, extend my arms out in pistols and start groin-moshing with other dudes, so I decided I had to get out of there.

(Yes, I posted that just to piss off the trance crackers, and yes, it's also completely true. Deal with it.)

LOL

Ferry teasing the crowd with the extended violin buildup to good ol' System F -Out of the Blue was a great way to end the set.

Now this may be a pretty noob question, but does the system in KH pump past that decibel that causes perma damage?
If so, I'm gonna grab some ear plugs next time...

well, its really comes down to the setup.. i remember shy fx in the koolhaus.. somehow they had THUNDER bass goin on..

oh and for the noobs.. if u can`t get decent ear plugs like the er20`s just grab a napkin and tear a good chunk off and squish in a ball and those are good but not the best.

I was on a road trip up to Canada (first time there) and watched various sporting events along the way. Went out every night I was in Toronto (The Raq on Sunday, The Social on Monday, and of course stayed all night at The Guvernment (KoolHaus Room) all night Tuesday/Wednesday.

If I didn't catch any sporting event (stops in Pittsburgh, Canton (FB HoF), Cleveland, Buffalo, or Hamilton, I would have to say that watching Ferry's three hour set was worth it all. Over 1,400 miles round trip for me in a week.

I think that Ferry's set was tops in my opinion followed by Menno de Jong who rocked it despite having a tough act to follow. Cosmic Gate didn't blow me away after they started at 11pm after Mark finished his opening set.

It was my first time seeing Ferry live and I've had the chance to see a lot of terrific acts in Charlotte. This performance ranks up there, along with the surprise live vocals from Betsie, and the whole experience just blew me away.

Well I'm going to start off by saying that this a was a very good but strange night for me at the Guv.

Richie Hawtin KILLED IT!!!!!!!!!! I couldnt stop jumping for the 2 hours that he was on for!! IMO he was the man to see for the night!! I wish he had a longer set time and later set time.

After Hawtin was finished we went to KH for some Ferry. He was good but honestly I found it to be cheesy trance as always. To many vocals for my liking. But none the less he delivered.

Left to go to the Guv for some Steve Lawler and was very nice and dark. Kinda wish I stayed in there to be truthful.

Menno started off soft. But progressivly got harder. Only sad fact is that he finished an hour early. (The KH was pretty empty at the point of him finishing.

It was great seeing some familiar faces. Good TA turnout. Finally met Lisa and Ian. Wayyyy overdue in meeting you guys!! :)

So for the sketch stories. Now as I'm sure most of you know I'm always sober in every aspect, but even I have my sketch moments.
When we were in the Guv there was a girl dancing directly in front of me who I thought was Tara. So I gave her a big hug from behind. She turns around and sure enough it wasnt her. I know for a fact that Veronica saw me do this and just about pissed herself laughing. The random girl was cool about it but shocked none the less. I felt like such a douche. Then 5 minutes later she turns around and hugs me and kisses my cheek. Now I'm shocked. So I just keep dancing and jumping around. Now for those of you who dont know, I've lost quite a bit of weight since last Fall. Close to 50 pounds. I had a MAJOR wardrobe malfunction right deadsmack in the middle of the dancefloor. I'm jumping to Richie Hawtin and BANG!!!!! Pants are at my ankles. Holy I never yanked my pants up so quick in my life. Thank God it is dark in there. I dont know if anyone saw, maybe lurker Justin cause he was laughing his ass off. So for the rest of night I had to keep my hand in my pockets if I wanted to jump around to keep that from happeneing again. Worst part is, these were pants I bought 2 months ago but are already too big!!

Then in KH I really had to count my lucky stars. I'm jumping to Ferry Corsten destroying the club and my Oakley sunglasses pop out of my breat pocket. Miraculously they didnt get stepped on or crushed. That wouldve really sucked. Big thanks to Sean and Orkan for helping me find them with light. So all in all it was a great night, nice to be back to the Guv and seeing some old friends.

It will certainly be a night I never forget.
