tipping. Its not my job to subsidise the staffing costs of business.
Ok, so you want to pay more for food? Go ahead and don't tip. When you get a bill at a restaurant, you're paying for food costs, and only a little goes towards labor. The tip is what you are paying for the service. If the bill included all costs for labor, you would be paying a lot more.

So, what do you think is more efficient for a restaurant and the consumer?

yes.

Over here, waiters minimum wage is lower than the regular minimum wage, because it's expected that people leave a tip.

If you don't leave a tip even when receiving a good service then the waiter is getting the shaft big time.
That, and most people don't realize that as a server, I tip out hosts, bartender, and the bussers. So if the tip is low enough or there is none at all, I end up paying to serve the ing table.

The thing about the service industry is the expectation of perfection. I sometimes get a drink order and I can't help it if a walk-in of a 20 top puts their drink order in before mine and my drinks come out a little bit late, amongst other things that happen. If your are talking about service at restaurants, at least back it up by saying you have worked in a full service restaurant and you actually know how difficult it can be at times.

Most people wouldn't. It wouldn't be a smart move economically either, because people would stop going out.

Bollocks. Why is it my responsibility to pay the staff's wages? If you employ staff, you should pay them, not expect everyone else to pay them. All the other costs are included in the meal's price, why not the staff's wages?

I didn't realise that. And, to me, that sound rediculous.

It sounds like you have a system over there, honestly.
