| f*ck YEAHHH! I'll probably DVR a few episodes and do a marathon viewing. That's the way to go with stuff like this. I watched the entire Band of Brothers series in 2 days. :) |

This series is going to be sooooo ing awesome. Band of Brothers was great and the pacific theme of this show is going to be a bit refreshing than the normal WWII stuff.
I know there have been many pacific theater WWII films made but the subject hasn't gotten the Spielberg treatment yet. |

I'm fired up to see it too... same Pacific theater as The Thin Red Line.
My only worry- I hope too much "agenda" isn't going to be pushed here. Tom Hanks said the other day while discussing this miniseries that, "Back in World War II, we viewed the Japanese as ‘yellow, slant-eyed dogs’ that believed in different gods. They were out to kill us because our way of living was different. We, in turn, wanted to annihilate them because they were different."
I thought it was the fact that they pulled a sneak attack at Pearl Harbor for dominance in the Pacific and then fought us relentlessly rather than surrender... not because of racial/cultural differences. in' Hollywood. |

We did think that they were sub-human compared to us, just as they thought the same thing about us, and every other non-Japanese person.
The overtones of pure unadulterated racism during WWII has almost no compare.
But thats what war is, and thats what the propaganda machines on both sides tried to convey. |

The last episode had some of the most beautiful cinematography ever if you go just on the basis of capturing amazing scenery. |
