I left EDC around 1:30am and there was zero traffic getting out of the USC parking lot. Losing ~30 minutes of a massive can end up saving ~1 hour of waiting in traffic.

On Friday I saw three guys jump the fence by the ferris wheel around 5pm... two of them made it, but the third got taken down hard after he tried to run for it. People were cheering, he was running fast, but there was too many security guys to juke. He got tackled big time.

There were two fences between bleachers and Coliseum floor, with about 15 feet of a no-mans-land in between.

To me, the funniest moment of the night was around 8pm in the Coliseum when LBL's set was interrupted (poor LBL) to make the announcement that people should stop jumping the fences. The crowd started booing the fence jumpers. One girl was able to climb the first fence into no-mans-land but was not able to climb back out of no-mans-land to either the Coliseum floor or back to the bleachers. Eventually, she was the only one left in that area and many thousands of upset eyes were focused squarely on this one person. At the moment I found it hilarious that this one dumbass couldn't muster the strength to hop one more fence when it mattered most.

At NYE at the Bonaventure, they came on at 10pm and had a ton of energy (I would say too much energy for such an early set time, but I loved it). Last night was a bit too floaty and airy for me.

Did A&B play "Good For Me" twice? I thought they played it at the beginning of their set and again in the middle.

Morons.

Also, 185k reported in attendance - WOW. Now that is a sold out show - and they even limited the floor to 70 percent.

185k between both days.

And if they held they limited the floor to 70 percent, probably why they could put so many people in the stands. Sure there is an overall capacity limit. Good wayt to play it safe.

EDC, the good, bad and the ugly (in reverse order to end things off on a good note):

Ugly

  • Arrived at EDC around 3:30 after walking 15 min. from the USC parking structure on Figueroa. Saw plenty of $50-80 parking signs along the way, but they were for private lots outside the Coliseum/Sports Arena. The usual VIP entrance on MLK/Hoover (where I got through in like 30 seconds last year) along with the regular entrance was fenced off at MLK. There was a rat maze of fences that everyone had to go through, and it was a total clusterf*ck. Weird part is that in the first two fences in the rat maze, you could barely move, taking a couple of steps every few minutes, while those in the 3rd-6th or so fences had lots of space and weren't even full. I saw a lot of people jumping from the first to second fence, which may have either caused or added to the problem. Anyway, it took like 45 mins to an hour to get through this mess just to get to the VIP entrance. I wonder if some of the medical emergencies were due to people passing out from sunstroke while waiting in this clusterf*ck?

So basically, $150-and-up VIP ticket holders were forced to use only the MLK/Hoover entrance with the longest line, and then wound up waiting much longer than those with GA tickets using the other 3 less crowded entrances! On EDC's website, VIP perks include “Separate entrance into the festival for faster entry,” which was complete bull! Imagine going to Disneyland and paying much extra for front of line privileges but then finding out that you had to wait longer than most people who had regular tickets. The message I'm getting here is that you're better off buying GA tix than VIP tix, at least far as “faster entry” is concerned.

  • Security was completely over the top this year, a trip through LAX is paradise in comparison! I had a half ounce tube of sunscreen and a chapstick, and was told that I could only take one or the other inside. I was also told that yesterday they were not allowing any sunscreen, but that they were selling it inside. I explained that my sunscreen didn't contain dangerous chemicals such as Oxybenzone (see the EWG safe sunscreen list for more on this http://www.ewg.org/2010sunscreen/fi...est-sunscreens/ ), to which he replied that the sun causes cancer and then threw away my chapstick.

  • Once inside, the VIP area was serving that horrible Russian Standard vodka again. After drinking it last year and knowing what it does to you the next day, I went down to the coliseum to see if they had some decent vodka for sale. The only alcohol in the coliseum was beer though, I couldn't even buy a hard drink!

Bad

  • Paid “only” $25 for parking at the USC structure. The second main stage at EDC is where a huge parking lot once was, so they have effectively eliminated maybe 20% of the available parking while allowing for increased attendance.

  • After hearing that entrance to the coliseum from VIP was blocked after 10 p.m. on Friday night, I was concerned I'd never get back inside if I went back to VIP for a drink or to use the restroom. There were guys pissing on the side of the coliseum walls since there was no other choice if you wanted to stay inside the coliseum (restrooms were outside). I considered this too, but watched the coliseum VIP entrance/exit for awhile and saw people moving back & forth so I risked it and got back in, even right before Armin's set at midnight.

  • Security would not let any drinks, including water, out of the VIP area. I really don't see why they can't let each person carry out one bottle of water to drink while on the dance floor. I saw a lot of VIP drinks going outside that area by other means, but not going into any further detail on that...

  • Into A&B's set, the coliseum floor kept emptying, to the point where it was only about half full during the last half of Armin's set. Wondering if people just weren't into the music that much, got tired and left, or if the coliseum floor was never re-opened later in the night?

  • Smell of diesel exhaust that permeated the second main stage. It's not safe to breath fine particulate matter such as diesel, it gets stuck in the lungs and never goes away from what I have read. I know it's LA, the air is bad and all, but dunno why it had to be vented all over the dance floor?

  • My friend and I said that this will be our last EDC, he heard the same from about 20 other people. I agree that this event has outgrown the venue, and as he put it, “We paid $150 each to be tortured like that, never again!” EDC seems to have gotten to the point where it's a guaranteed sell-out, so I guess treating everyone like cattle and going cheap on the drinks has become the norm...so sad.

  • Was possible to get into and out of the coliseum the whole night using the VIP entrance/exits.

  • Lighting and stage production were top notch, I could tell they worked hard on this and it paid off. The performers in costume up on the stages and out in the crowd really put the “Carnival” into EDC.

  • Lots of room in the shaded VIP area with couches and places to hang out, more restrooms than before and they were well maintained (I even saw janitors going into one and cleaning it up). Observation area gave one of the best views of the coliseum. Second VIP area over at the other main stage (neon garden?) was nice also.

  • The music, overall, was great. The floor was completely packed when Afro Jack and William were on. Although I hated the music then, the crowd really seemed to be going off to it. I made my way over to hear James Zabiela spin for the first time, and he was awesome! The huge dance floor (formerly parking lot) there was about half full, and everyone was just going crazy.

  • Wish Gareth had been on one of the other two main stages, but his set really rocked too and this smaller stage was also packed. Went back into the coliseum a little before his set ended, was concerned that I might not be able to get in again so I stayed there rest of the night. Really enjoyed Above & Beyond's (Jono & Paavo) set, love how Paavo writes poetry on his laptop and shows it to the crowd. One said “this one is for everyone who left this earth too soon” and I got teary-eyed for my best friend in the Netherlands whose brother died from Leukemia earlier this year...A&B are the best. Liked Armin's set more as the night progressed, highlight for me was Armin van Buuren ft Sharon Den Adel – “In And Out Of Love” (AVB mashup)...that one put the crowd into a total frenzy!

I'll start with the lowlights:
- The vodka sucked ass. I couldn't drink it anymore. Thank god for Dos Equis. Yesterday morning I had the worse hangover watching the USA game thanks to that cheap . I made sure to stay away from it last night and definitely felt much better today

- The security was ridiculous, 3 en people searching the entire VIP at the entrance? Seriously, there should be 4 VIP entrances and 1 GA, I could care less if those kids don't get in, they're too busy rolling to care anyways. Friday was easier to get in, but yesterday was a nightmare. And then I get my socks searched and was asked to take off my belt. The guy almost didn't let me bring in my earplugs. He made me take them off so he can search them and nearly threw them away before I bullted and told him they're prescriptions

- Having to walk around the Drum n bass stage to get to circuitGrounds. I actually didn't mind as I got my Jungle on, but having a moderate size group makes it alot harder. It was way better last year when the Drum N Bass was a little bit more north of the Sports Arena and having all that room to easily get around.

- The kandi kids are getting more ignorant by the year. How the hell do you not know who Armin van Buuren is? And can't people go dressed like normal human beings, I'm embarassed for our scene everytime I go to one of these events and see how people waste their time trying to look that stupid.

- Seriously, the whole gate rushing thing is getting old. Just put high voltage electric fences and nobody jumps it, or put barbed wire.

- Deadmau5 was a freakin joke. His sets get worse and worse each time I've seen him. Thank god for Claude von Stroke closing, that was my saving grace

- 8 to 12 dollar food, for s sake, I wouldn't mind if the burgers and food was a decent serving size like last year, but I swear I ate the first burger in 4 bites.

- Whoever earlier in this thread said that cellphone reception was good, you're an idiot. I told you it was horrible, everyone who had every different company was complaining that there was no reception.

- Lil en Jon, holy , biggest joke of the night. Oh wait, no, I heard Will.I.Am was. I was smart enough to stay at Neon Garden for Emery's set and Groove Armada's at circuitGrounds

The Highlights:
- Armin, Above and Beyond, Gareth, Groove Armada, Second Sun, Avicii, Trent Cantrelle, Donald Glaude, Moby, Swedish House Mafia and Claude von Stroke were excellent. They all brought their A games and definitely had amazing sets. I found some sets on Alldj.org

- Glad to see VIP was much better than TAO. Way more people serving, and I made sure to tip them and let them know how good of a job they were doing because they were really hustling to serve everyone efficiently.

-I raped the open bar. I mean I had maybe 60 beers in two days and 40 waters. I laughed at the fact they wanted to implement a 7 drink limit, I had my 7th beer 25 minutes into Friday and maybe 30 mins into Saturday. I was giving away waters to people who didnt have VIP just to stick it to Insomniac.

- Production was stellar. You could tell they really spent time on it and I'll definitely give credit where its due. I really loved the flame throwers going off with the beat of the music.

- Got to see alot of familiar faces in random places, never hurts bumping into random people, especially considering the size of the event.

- Avicii is extremely talented, one day he'll be up there as one of the world's best.

- Armin playing his mashup On and Off Love was insane, the crowd was really into it. Glad I found his set on Alldj.org. Im going to have it on repeat all week

Overall, unless there is a really good lineup, Im going to pass on any more massives. I can't handle the fact that we get treated like by security and the en crowd is just so stupid. Thank god for clubs

This year was my 1st edc and it was AWESOME. got there around 3 or 4, parked at the 25 buck parking lot by the stadium but we walked around to get out will call tickets. there were no lines for willcall, we just walked in and got the tickets! and no waiting in line to get in!! we just walked in and security checked and that was is. it seemed the VIP line was longer than the GA LOL. our group walked around for a bit then attempted to go to the colliseum but they closed it, then it was hectic and chaotic with every1 trying to get out and people trying to get in. after that we went to the neon garden and stayed there the whole time. CL, and Fleming killed it. fuking badass!!!! Didnt really have interest seeing armin or a&b

they opened with the Good For Me & Trapeze (Arty Remix) Mashup and then played the club mix like an hour later lol

anyone know what tune that was when Paavo held up the laptop saying "this one is for those who left the earth too soon". tune was EPIC!

EDC Saturday was amazing, i thought it was much better than Friday :) Good vibes and beautiful people! Above & Beyond's set was definitely the most passionate set of the night I felt.
