What about calls or your signal constantly lost? And where you in the Coliseum?

Everyones battery drains quickly because the phones are always searching for a signal

Then you have the phone turned off most of the time. only turn it on when you have to.

Or if you have an iPhone or any other kind of smart phone just click over to airplane mode. Then just randomly click back to regular mode so you can get your texts and voice-mails and make phone calls.

I think I probably check this thread like 10 times a day at least. God I can't wait to be back in California dancing my ass off to music I actually like.

I don't remember if I called anyone. I doubt it because it was too loud to talk in most areas.

I still had some juice by the end of the night, but I don't remember how much.

if you have an iPhone, you could always go green:

edc is for 12hrs. Since no one can hear their cellphones going off or feel the vibs ppl will constantly check on it. Turning on the screen etc. Waste of battery. Plus there is barely ANY signal at the Colosseum. I usually bring a spare. On days I don't have a spare I will just turn it on once every half hour. Find a spot with reception and just go there to get it.

Plus, 100k + kids jamming the signal isn't helping the cell towers.

Regarding the whole cell phone discussion: Never had a problem as I don't need to check it constantly. I have Verizon and never put it into any mode or anything and still got home (San Diego) with plenty of charge. I was all over the place throughout the night.

CDMA is much much better at handling multiple users on one cell phone tower, compared to GSM which is pretty poor at handling an overload of people (I think it's for every one CDMA tower, you need 4 GSM towers to get comparable capacity; GSM gives more of a "first come first serve" line, while CDMA can do multiple at once).

That is why at just about every major event with lots of people, Verizon people have little to no trouble using phones, while GSM carriers have problems. Some events bring in extra GSM towers to compensate, though.

At Coachella, all the people coming in from the UK on GSM could barely get good service. For BBM's, they sometimes too a LONG time to go through. For Verizon, even BBMs were pretty much instantaenous still.
