I went to glion , If you put it as "manage hotel clerks" you are just trying to make it sound like they do nothing in their 8 hour shifts. This establishment is a 5 star luxury establishment that need to produce a high percentage of revenue through customer satisfaction and relation. That is just a small idea of what hospitality is. There is tourism, marketing, quality management, accounting, internal technology (what you do), human resources, food and beverage, front office, etc. So many departments all working as a team, in order to reach one goal. That is how this business works. Just like any other,
You are a software developer, and our hotel uses a software to manipulate the hotel's activities day by day. So your company in the end is a service provider for mine, In yours you're part of a team of software developers, in my company i am manager of the entire front office and sub departments which i mentioned. I have to ensure customer satisfaction is being met and increased while making sure that the increase of revenue of every transaction that is occurring in the hotel is maximizing the total net worth of the establishment.

I'm now half way through my 24 week advanced Field Artillery school and it blows.
Even though none of us will probably use any of what we are learning there will be an Army wide understanding of what we all have a base knowledge of and can build off that, regardless if we use it or not. The more school we get that "base" gets higher and higher. |
