If you feel that your job (and your partner's?) job(s) are secure, and you find the right place, then I say do it.

That said, I have no idea what apartment prices are like down in Melbourne, and what you actually get for those prices.

Rent is dead money though. You might as well put it towards an asset, that you can sell if you decide to.

I will be doing it solo, just a one bedroom for me to frolic around in. Got a promotion at work, also am able to pick up 2 extra shifts per fortnight at casual rates.

Edit- something like this http://www.domain.com.au/Property/For-Sale/Apartment-Unit-Flat/VIC/Coburg/?adid=2009171795

Expensive :wtf: ing Melbourne :stongue:

Nice though, I can't lie. And newly built? So not too much up-keep at the start.

If you think you can afford it, then why not? Frolicking is cool, you know? :p

Tell me about it, that same place rents for about $300 per week, so it's like pissing against the wind really.

Not to be nosey, but I've seen a couple of pics of your current place on FB (tuuuurtles). What do you pay for that per week? Tell me to off if you want, I won't be offended, I'm just trying to gauge the difference in price between Melbs and Bris, for rentals :p
