Only receipt I'd consider posting would be the one from the ing Mexican hospital that didn't accept my health insurance which required me to pay in ing cash :mad:
I'm going to keep my vacations to places inhabited by white people from now on :mad:
I shall also go vote for low taxes on the rich and increased taxes on the poor. |

No reason to get all extreme. A flat percentage is just fine. :p |

Simplifying the tax code, making a flat percentage (for people making above a threshold of $22,350 a year), a minor national sales tax (0.5%) and increasing dividend and capital gain taxes sounds fair to me. |

Well, I agree with 1 of those 5 points. :p

Edit: More than anything, I disagree with your use of "fair" as a descriptor of justification for determination of ideal economic policy. That's the core of what has become the debate nowadays. |

My girlfriend caught me looking at the thread a couple of days ago. She was pissed and wouldn't talk to me about anything unless it has to do with the deteriorating state of feminism in the 21st century. She tells me that if I want to get back on her good side, I'll have the thread taken down.
At first I was like, no way. I can't do that and even if I could, it's not fair to the other guys on the board. More of the ing same, this time with little digs about how much I qualify my morality with Biblical paraphrasing, far too often, even though I can't exactly live up to what I "preach" - she even made little quote signs with her fingers when she said, preach.
Still, I hold out. I try to explain to her that it's not a reflection on her but she doesn't want to hear it. She confiscates my cell-phone and deletes every female name in it. Even names that aren't really women. Then she pairs down my facebook friends list and repeatedly toggles between "In a relationship" and "It's complicated", so that it updates every time she does it - in case no one got the message.
Long story, short, I had to write a very articulate and compelling letter to Swamper, begging him to delete that thread. I didn't think anything would come of it, but...
I'm really sorry, VAR. And everyone else. I know you all got a lot out of that thread but if I have to hear about how I'm single-handedly perpetuating the oppression of women, that I might be happier if we lived in Saudi Arabia, and that my looking at that thread is tantamount to being a peeping tom peering from outside their bedroom window, I really don't know what I'll do.
Oh, and Swamper, if you're reading this, that citation from The Beauty Myth by Betty Friedan - that's from page 149, not 194. |
