But the truth is that the US has done some Dodg-ee propaganda in the past, and although they've probably abondoned most of their half assed schemes (like having a picture of martin luther king in a meeting and the caption say "MLK in a secret communist meeting") <- it's true they did that!
Although I'd believe the video's real, but WHY would the US government show that ffs, there's no point in making the gap between US and afghanistan bigger, it's bad enough as it is. It might as well be propaganda considering they're releasing it.

well, whatever, think what you will. I'd hardly say i'm being a dick. I'm being as polite as i possibly can, it's very difficult to tell someone that they're opinions are wrong, without sound condescending or insulting. I think i said: "I am not insulting you as a person, i am taking issue with what you have written, which i know is untrue, and i feel is either willfully ignorant, or at best simply misinformed."
I could let loose with some nasty flames, threats, type in ALL CAPS, start spelling things badly, insulting his mother.. that would be being a dick, and pointless besides.
All i said was, i don't think his opinion is correct.
My opinion, i'm not being a dick. you think i am fine.
and, i really don't care whether you like me or not, that's up to you. I wanted to tell you, even though i disagree with you on some stuff, i still like talkin to you, because you can and do express your opinion, and express it well, and i respect that. |

if i didnt know you were a smart guy, i might buy that you seriously dont think these comments are completely condescending and insulting. but give me a break. should i break down each of those sentences and explain why they are not polite, are condescending, and patronizing? i really dont feel like i need to.. all you have to do is read them.
you are right, you did say that sentence.. back on like page 6 or 7... then you started in with the stuff i listed above. |

yeah, i can see how those can be insulting. whatever, think what you will, i'm being as nice as i can, while still letting him know i think he's wrong. it's a tough line to walk. Don't even make me dig up flames you have made, they are much worse than mine.
this is a waste of time arguing about though. isn't that why you said you were leaving the thread? |

yeah, of course i have no right to say that, the guy thinks what he wants, that's a preference.
but when someone says, I think that 10 is more than 20, it's ok for me to say, no, your opinion is wrong, go check your math.

you can dig up flames all you want, i know i flame... my point was, you keep saying "lets be civil" in this specific thread yet then you do that... hypocrisy sucks.
i cant think of one thread where i kept saying stuff like that but then flamed the hell out of someone. when i flame i generally just start out flaming.. heh. |

and if you still don't understand, calling someone's opion WRONG is not only an uneducated remark and incorrect use of the english language, it is also petty and rude. there is no such thing as a right or wrong opinion. fact and fiction go together, but opinion has nothing to do with either. if you want to challenge someone who is giving false information (misled "fact"), then do so in a civil manner, but challenging and putting down someone's opinion is pure slander. |
