Don't wanna start arguing, just a couple of things I wanted to point out...
- The reason why we started talking about US Foreign Policy is because it was apparently an Al Qaeda video, hence the S11 talk
- The reason why non-americans are annoyed with the war is because it shouldn't be a "war" , it wasn't afghanistan who attacked america, let alone a majority of the population, hence it should be an SAS sort of deal, NOT a "let's blow things up" tactic
- The reason why in might not have happened in the first place if US had a better foreign policy is in regards to humanitarian aid NOT "oh they helped them fight Russia" <-Do you think the average Afghani could care? They wouldn't have wanted the war in the first place, they would've prefered aid
Not trying to get angry, I'm just saying there's a couple of misunderstanding here....
A couple of other things......wow, if US cancelled world debt (yes there are some other countries involved but the main part is US) to third world countries a lot of them could fix themselves up, alot of them are trying to, except ...
...The majority of all their money to feed, shelter, educate etc. themselves goes back to the US. Yes the US is great in giving money/aid out to countries which have no other choice to accept it because they need it, but then the US demands it back with interest! Tell me it's not stupid to have a aid program which works like a ing bank?????!?!!!!!
These countries now owe the US what they can't afford, because they are poor, and for every day they pay back with each new day there is still interest to pay, so it goes around in a circle which they can't escape.
Also on the topic of US being self-centred and ignorant (not all FFS don't flame me, I'm talking about my experiences with Americans, and not all of them no, but a higher majority than any other country I've been to).
1. Yeah go ahead and seal yourself off from the world, you've already tried to build an anti-missle program (Billions of dollars which could have helped millions of starving people) which doesn't even work. The highest success rate they've got so far is 8% (and that's if they know where the missle is coming from and exactly when, And if there are no decoys) ..do you think your enemies are gonna tell you that?!? Ps. if you aided other people, and tried to work things out instead of dropping bombs then you probably wouldn't have any enemies . no I'm not saying all the terrorists will drop their weapons, BUT it will stop breeding new terrorists
And before you say Australia doesn't aid other countries...we normally have to clean up after the US, or go when they can't be ed to do any UN type of work.... (East Timor for example).

sidenote but worth noting...the bush/gore race was the closest presidential race in history i believe. there are still people that believe the florida votes were altered and there's a whole slew of conspiracies about it. but that's kinda irrelevant. so yea. :p
as for all this america bashing...i admit, there are A LOT of americans that are oblivious to what happens in the outside world; they're either too ignorant, lazy, selfish, or just can't be ed to bother with whatever is not outside they're immediate life. Even AFTER being attacked on 9.11, there are still plenty of people that are ignorant to why we were attacked. many believe that it is simply because all non-americans are jealous of our #1 status, etc. sad...but true in a lot of cases. However that does NOT mean all of Americans are dumbasses; there are a LOT of people in the U.S. and i kind of doubt it received its status as one of the world leading nations by accident.
as for all this talk on foreign policies, pipelines in afghan, iraq...i'm not gonna comment on that cuz i'm no int'l relations/econ/social wutevas major and have no knowledge to back me up. all i know is, there are two sides to every issue, and it usually is just a matter of which side outweighs the other. to me, i personally feel that while america had its bad in foreign policies and wut not, flying two planes into WTC, and another into the pentagon and a planned 4th into the white house is just a lil' uncalled for...you really can't be causing much more damage like that sans nuclear weapons. Now, if Al Qaeda had nuclear weapons....i can't even imagine wut woulda happened and i'm sure they woulda used it without a second thought.
that's it for today, dunno if i made any sense. got 4.5 hours of sleep, (i hate living w/ parents, can't wait to get back to college) after a nite out drinking with the boyz...ugh. |

umm I hate to tell you but stereotyping is a basic cognitive function which all humans must do to anticipate how they will act in situations. It is essential for hypothesising and accessing a situation. If we didn't stereotype we would never know what to expect and how to deal with our daily lives.
Here's an example "Hmm coffee was hot when I first had, all (most) coffee's are probably hot" so when you have a coffee for the second time you will be careful not to burn yourself.
It is a part of incorporating experience with our next experience of the same thing.
Here's an example "An American didn't seem to understand that we don't have kangaroos in our backyard, and our island is very small"
So I will expect that *some* other Americans will be as ignorant as this one. By the way, It's a continent!
Just a note, yes stereotypes become dangerous when you say "Nazis killed people, Germans were nazis, germans kill people" but we're not that stupid...
although on a stereotype psychology test in America (yes in the 80's) they answered to questions similar to that nazi thing above and they had a high rate of 85%, yet in Australia and other countries like Russia it was as low as 20%...
So we don't hate americans, we were never bashing you, we were just putting forward our distress, pity, and annoyance at the US government.
In No Way were we bashing any of you individuals, nor EVERY AMERICAN. Just america in general, based on our prior experience and knowledge.

i started to read this thread...but ONCE again it turned into HOW America is at fault for the attacks,,,blah blah....
all i gotta say is this....I was there....like Renegade...i saw the planes hit those buildings and i saw people jumping and i saw full grown police men so scared out fo their minds all they could do was cry...and it TAKES ALOT to make a NYPD cop to cry....
SOOOOOOOO UNLESS you where THERE...and saw the horror...not knowing whether another plane was coming or if you where going to make it off that island alive...seeing 110 story buildings fall to the ground and people dieing....DONT SAY .....
IT WAS AAAALLLLOOOOTTTTTT DIFFERENT IN PERSON THEN WHAT U SAW ON TELEVISION AND NEWSPAPERS....ALOT!!!!!......
