Yeah I'm gonna mix some cocktails and enjoy the ceremonies :p

Actually it doesn't have that much to do with Tiesto I always watch the olympics, usually my whole family watches the events and especially the opening ceremonies...but now that Tiesto is there, it's even more of a reason to watch for me :D

Regardless though I really enjoy the olympic games ;)

From a Toronto Star article ...

The opening ceremonies of the Athens Olympic Games are only three days away, and details are coming out all the time about what will be going on. Officials announced yesterday that a fellow named Tiësto, apparently twice voted the number one DJ in the world by DJ Magzine, will make Olympic history by becoming the first DJ ever to perform in an Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games.

That is hillarious...:haha: :stongue: :haha: :stongue: I think this was expected from our Canadian writers/comentators...and check this out from the same article...

They weren't letting people take photos of the rehearsals, but yesterday a passerby could hear deep, throbbing operatic-sounding music over the enormous loudspeakers at the sleek, stylish Olympic Stadium, which looked like a wreck a year ago. The music wasn't anything familiar, but it was certainly beautiful to hear and something both modern-sounding and eerily ancient at the same time.

I bet he was rehersing adagio for strings...I heard he was doing sound checks for flight 643 and adagio...

meh could be interesting as long as he chooses appropriate songs that suit the event and doesnt pull a paul van dyk and use it to promote himself. but hearing the rumoured songs.. its looking like hes going to turn the olympics into a big rave. not a good way to promote dance music.

Top DJ Tiesto to rock Olympics
Mon 9 August, 2004 17:27

ATHENS (Reuters) - One of the world's top DJs will rock the 55,000 crowd at Friday's opening ceremony for the Athens Olympics, Games officials say.

DJ Tiesto, twice voted the world's top DJ by the trade press, will become the first entertainer of his kind to perform at the opening ceremony in the 108-year history of the Games.

"The opportunity to perform my music for billions of people around the globe will be the greatest highlight of my life," Dutchman Tiesto said in a statement on Monday.

"I am honoured to be part of the biggest sports event in the world."

Tiesto will perform a 90-minute live set in the Olympic Stadium during the parade of athletes.

"While it is path-breaking, it is also natural that a modern artist like Tiesto will contribute to the celebration we are planning on our opening night," Games chief Gianna Angelopoulos said.

Few other details are known about the opening ceremony, but organisers have promised it will be spectacular.
