Man.... Tim Wakefield sucks against the Yankees. What was Francona thinking by bringing him in? Oh wait....

And even with all the passed balls by Varitek, Wake was still money. Dude definitely cowboy'd up.

I'm happy for the Astros. I hate Jeff Kent too, but seeing him toss his helmet in the air, I had to smile. Go 'stros.

well I'll just tip my hat to the BoSox and call them my daddies...for now. ty Yankee bullpen pitching again...Tom Gordon can't stand the heat, though Rivera sucked last night. David Ortiz is a class act and a money hitter...maybe he should come to New York?:D

I said Yankees in 6 before it all got started...and I'll stick with that.

I just want you to say that Wakefield was money tonight. I will call the Yankees my daddy if you say Wake was dope. Then all is forgiven and we can start all over again as baseball fans who just happen to dig opposing teams. :thepirate

He pitched very well, but he wasn't overpowering. We're starting to see the Yankee hitters slumping a bit....the bounces weren't going their way...look at Clark's ground rule double in the ninth. Ah well...the Red Sox just won't go away and they must be saluted.
Shamez214
The Yankees are NOT my daddy. :gsmile: Haha! But anyway, there are very few knuckleballers who are classified as 'overpowering.' Matter off act, I don't think any ever were. When I have kids, if I have a boy, as soon as he turns 15 or 16, it's knuckleball time. Definitely teaching him how to throw it.

Think about if someone like Pedro 5 years ago, or Johan Santana today, had a knuckleball in his inventory. 97 fastball. 92 hard slider. 83 circle change. then BAM. 55 knuckler. truly Bugs Bunny-style.

well I meant overpowering in the sense that he didn't own the yankees...they had a few hard hit balls of him and just lacked that one clutch hit. Ah well...I still think the Red Sox might just be setting themselves up for an even bigger let down than if they got swept. Imagine if they lose in 7 again? Horrible.

Does anyone think Schilling will actually pitch Game 6? He was limping to the bullpen (a smart psychological move by Francona...but I knew damn well he wasn't going to come in unless it went to 18 or 19 innings).

Schilling will pitch. Didn't you see his new Reeboks? :barf: I hate Fox baseball.

I'm just glad the Red Sox didn't get swept. I don't think they will win all because Schilling isn't healthy, but if he was 100% the series would be over. Ortiz is the MVP, that's all I have to say.

Oh and go 'Stros! What a great effort. I have $100 on them to win the NLCS ever since the beginning of the season. I just about gave up my money because I didn't even think they'd pull off the wildcard. But what a gutsy effort without Pettite. If Pettite was healthy I didn't think anyone could beat them, even in the AL.

the series wouldn't be over even if Schilling was 100%. Who's going to pitch Game 7 for the BoSox? Brown will start, but el duque will be available, as will vasquez and many others.

The Red Sox are in a whole lotta bullpen trouble...it might rain in NY tonight though.
