It's too bad Pujols is playing with Bonds in the same league. I can't see Bonds losing an MVP race until he retires or unless age finally catches up to him.

You have to admit the Cardinals overachieved the entire year. I thought at the beginning of the year the Astros would run away with the division and be the dominant team in the NL. Overachievers or not, they have a strong base in the lineup and with some offseason pitching moves could be right back there next year.

beltre probably finished behind bonds. it would be hard for any cardinal to win the mvp because they have three legitimate players on their team for it and the vote would most likely be split among those three players.

Yup. Same thing with Manny and Ortiz.

And trust me, Pujols will win plenty of MVP's in his career. He is way too good not to. Only Dimaggio and Williams have started their careers off with similar stats to Pujols. That's GOTTA say something...

Yeah this commercial is pretty touching. It was on before. I can't remember when, but I think it might've been after the first game against St. Louis.

You know seeing this makes me want to talk to my grandfather about baseball and ask him what he thinks about the Sox winning. To tell you the truth I have no idea what his favorite team is/was. I'd like to know what it is. :)

Driving home tonight I was listening to ESPN AM radio and the guy was talking about the Red Sox but after he talked on and on about Boston being the champions this year, he said he wanted to read a list of "losers" this year.

I forget some of the stuff he said but these things struck me as being really funny:

(these are not in any order, just in how I remembered)

#1) Scott Stapp. His singing God Bless America during the 4th game of the WS was atrocious, the guy said. "Look Scott, you're by yourself now, you're solo, but you're no DAvid Lee Roth. You are, and always will be 'That Guy From Creed'! :haha:

#2) A -Rod, well enough said about that :p

#3) Fox Sports.. (and I agree with this one...) for showing scenes inside bars in Las Angeles and NEW YORK?!!! C'mon!!! show the bars in Boston!!

#4) George Steinnebrenner. the greedy owner who, whenever the Yanks lose, is cheered by thousands.

Like I said this was just the opinion of the guy on ESPN radio AM, but I just thought those were quite humorous. :D

Nah, I don't think they overachieved, I think they were underestimated. Not only were the Astros meant to finish above us, but so were the Cubs! We played to our ability, and once we got on a roll I think it was a psychological problem for most teams, they expected to not only get beat but to get swept by the Cards!

Our pitching will be better next year, Ankiel is back and will be the strikeout pitcher we badly need. Haren will also be back as starter, looked good as middle relief towards end of season and will be fully fit for new season. Looks like Morris and Williams will leave freeing up a heck of a lot of cash, rumours of Randy Johnson yet again and also Eric Milton and Carl Pavano. It all depends on how much we have to pay to keep Renteria (the best defensive SS in the NL!). Will be interesting to see what develops over the post season!

Congratulations to the Red Sox for winning their first title in 86 years. This was the best world series I've seen since I started watching baseball in 2001. Maybe they'll repeat next year, who knows? But the curse is over, thats for sure.

Well, there was no curse to begin with. And you didn't think the 2001 WS was more exciting than this? If the Yankees, Twins, or Angels made it instead, and the WS played exactly the same way, it would've been one of the most boring WS ever.

It just has to do with the fact that the 86 years of futility for the Red Sox had ended. Thats gotta be one of the most defining moments in MLB history.
