Too bad it's not gonna happen. Do we have to hear your anti-Boston drivel the entire world series? Must suck to be so bitter. |

| Normally, because I'm a National League fan, I'd go for the NL team. But the Red Sox are my second favorite team, so I'm all for them. I think only the A's and Twins, besides the Sox, would get my support over an NL team, even if that NL team beat the Met to get to the WS. I don't get why Yankee fans are so bitter in that respect. I know this year it's kind of different, but I know that in 2002, barely any Yankee fans were rooting for the Angels. Simply because the Angels beat the Yankees to advance. Very bitter indeed. After the Braves beat the Mets in '99, I still was on their side in the WS. I just don't get it... it's like most Yankee fans are Yankee fans strictly and could care less about any other team in the sport. |

they got to much pride for their team, they dont care about everyone else, its all bout them. But the keyword is most. I have some buddies here that like the Marlins and Yankees,Most of those people that only like yankees are in New York right now.
I usually dont like rooting for other teams but my family lived in st.Louis for 5 years and my brother was born there, and I went to 2 Cardinals games over there plus one when they came here to play Florida this year. They were our team prior to the Marlins when they got started, gotta root for the local team.Proud Marlin Fan, but we still got the Cardinals in our hearts. |

Oh well...St. Louis will bat your suspect pitching around all Series anyway...just would have been nicer to see Clemens one up Boston again. And don't get started about "anti-Boston drivel"...Red Sox fans have been doing that against the Yankees for 86 years. I even heard one Red Sox fan say in a bar after Game 5 that he hoped the Yankee plane crashed. |

umm...isn't the whole point of being a fan to support your team and stand by them? I don't see how somebody can be a "fan" of 5 or 6 teams.
You don't see Red Sox fans cheering for anyone BUT the Sox...except when the Yankees are playing. But that doesn't make them a supporter of the team...it just makes them anti-Yankee fans in general.
Anyway, I say Cards in 6 or 7. The DH definitely favours the NL teams, while having American League pitchers hit in the NL parks is frustrating for American League team fans. But that's part of what makes baseball a great game. |

Just because other people say all anti-Yankee stuff doesn't mean you have to say all anti-Red Sox stuff.
And as for being a fan of more than one team, it's called being a fan of baseball. I love BASEBALL. I am a Mets fan, first and foremost. And if it came down to the Mets and any other team in the WS (even if the Sox lose this year and still haven't won a WS by the time they face the Mets), I'd be cheering for the Mets. But the Mets weren't in the playoffs this year. So I was pulling for the few other teams I liked. It's not neccesarily the 'franchise' that I like of other teams, it's the 'team' itself. The players on those teams. I love the players on the Ddogers. On the A's. On the Twins. On the Braves. On the Red Sox. Most other teams have a few guys I like.
And the Red Sox are different than any other team, besides the Cubs (I doubt Cubs fans were pulling for the Marlins), in that they have lost for so many years that I don't expect them to pull for any other team in the playoffs. Like I said before, the Mets were beaten by the Braves in the '99 LCS. And that was the first time we had a chance to go to the WS since '88. I wasn't bitter after the fact, and I still was pulling for the Braves in the WS (I would have no matter what team was in the WS at that point [probably even the Braves because I didn't really like that Red Sox team as much as this one]). My secondary teams change like the weather. But at heart I'll always be a Mets fan. I don't see how you can't understand that. |

Cheers Omegasox, looking forward to a good hard battle with one of the best franchises in baseball! I missed most of last nights game as I was working at 6 UK time, absolutly knackered but I'm off to restock the beers for next week. At least the WS is actually getting shown on TV over here, gets a tad annoying watching streaming video on the computer all the time. Can't wait to see Pedro face our 2,3,4,5 dream team!
Just wondering who will DH for the cards, looks like Wakefield will be starting and we aren't experienced against knuckleballers. Mabry has had a good year with limited at bats, but then again Cedeno could also get it. I think the Bosox will struggle without Ortiz as DH, I don't know how good he is on 1st, anybody know? |
