My finger's only pointed at the refugee system; immigration to Canada before that system existed was why this country was so strong during that time.

But okay, let's go with what you're saying - how would you propose this? I suggested in a different thread, several months ago, that we stop letting immigrants (especially refugees) choose wherever they want to live and limit the amount of time they're eligible for welfare (a few months maybe). The instant response to that was dozens of people saying "How dare you, that's a violation of their human rights!" (despite the fact that immigrants are not citizens and thus aren't covered by our bill of rights, and welfare is not a human right by anyone's standard).

So if we can't do that, how exactly would we go about "spreading out" the immigrants and getting them to integrate into society rather than shutting out society and forming their own sub-cultures? Surely no one here is naïve enough to believe that diplomacy and advertising alone are going to make it happen, we need a system for it.

And as for Cyrus King and hardcore trancer, I know them well too, or thought I did until they went off the deep end recently. Being who I am, I know firsthand that some of us need our comments to be taken with a grain of salt, but there a limit to how far that can be taken as an excuse. The "no hard feelings, it's just a forum" attitude is fine for controversial comments, but not for seething hatred and prejudice and slews of personal insults.

It's very rare for me to take comments on here beyond the argumentative level and up to the personal level, but they've accomplished that, with flying colours I might add. And maybe no one's interested in how I feel about it personally (clearly certain people aren't), but if any of you think I'm the only one that's been offended recently then you're due for a reality check. Their comments have caused many people who are usually neutral or non-participatory to speak up and several more to be silently offended and saddened by the show of open hostility.

This is me speaking as an individual and the partier you all know, and not as the resident forum flamer: these comments have crossed the line and need to stop. Controversy is A-OK in my book, but we're way past that now. Take it or leave it, that's how I feel, and whether or not you put any stock in my opinion, know that there are going to be a lot of people nodding their heads right now.

Not that I get offended by names like whitey and caker etc because i really dont care, they are just words. But if you call me that, dont get offended if i or others use terms like paki or n****r. Not that I ever would since I would never stoop to the same level.

Cyrus was putting some of the morons in this thread back in their seats. Those radicolus comments made by some people on this board made alot of people angry,so I think they deserve what they got.they call themselves Canadians and yet they cant stand the immigrants, the immigrants who've made Canada what it is today, the hard working people that deserve to be appriciated.

It is truly sad to know that we have such people living in this country with hate toward others.
As I said it before to those "special" Canadians who hate all the imigrants and think that they are better then everyone else might as well move to the south of the border and join all those friendly yankees there and hate every nation and culture in this world.

I dont think most people have a problem with immigrants. They have a problem with the attitude many immigrants today seem to possess. The way i read discojoe's comments were that he wasnt against immigrants or people who are minorities, hes just sick of the attitude they have and sick of how canadians just let immigrants walk all over them. If you put the quote into context its not as racist as it looks. Go back and read that whole post again instead of isolating the one comment. Selective quoting doesn't validate a whole arguement.

Maybe thats the case, but it wasnt just him who made those comments, there was a few people.

that still doesnt excuse the racism spewed from cyrus. Nobody should be defending that.

And id like you to quote who said what because thats the closest thing to "offensive" ive seen in this thread except for my joke at the beginning which i thought was quite funny. even that wasnt racist because refugees come in all colours.

Read some of the posts that Digiboy made few pages ago.

i dont recall seeing anything offensive there. He was stating his opinion about the attitudes of many recent immigrants. Nothing wrong with that. They obviously have no problem voicing their opinions.
