Without a doubt Margs, but with the holograms, etc, and the shade of green, it looks more like a $5 than a $20. Put both $20 side by side and they are nothing alike. |

if you have a hard time telling apart the new 5 and the new 20 then you probably are slightly colour blind. the 5 is a bright bright blue. i do agree that they are not same as the old one. imagine our money was as ugly as the american dollar. then you wouldn't know what you are paying with. |

Please, I am hardly colourblind kiddo, sheesh.
All I am saying is the new $20 is faaaaar different in colour from the old one.
So much so, that when in low light, and sorting a stack of $20s, I counted two new ones as fives due to the extreme difference from the old ones. |

I disagree. Socialism hasn't failed in the Scandinavian countries. |

Welfare makes up the LARGEST (yes you heard me, even more than health care and the national debt) chunk of government spending at around 45% of tax dollar revenue (I'll have to check that but I think it's between 40 and 50). |
Please see if you can confirm this, I'm interested to know how much exactly is spent on welfare. |

The most recent figure is from 2002, during which the amount the government spent on social services (i.e. welfare, unemployment insurance, etc.) totalled $140 billion. Compare this to $77 billion on health care, $64.1 billion on education, and $53.4 billion on debt interest payments.
These figures are obtainable from statscan or the federal government itself, although I was first alerted to them in "Tax Me I'm Canadian" by Mark Milke. If you ever wondered why taxes are so high in Canada and what happens to all the money, I strongly recommend you read it. It has an extensive list of references, several of which I actually checked myself because I was so outraged at what I was reading. |

ah yes, the Red Ensign. Such a wonderful flag isn't it? It's too bad it only lasted for about 30 years before Pearson picked our stupid looking current flag. Our flag is a joke...anyone with any taste has to admit this is a nicer flag, Union Jack included on it or not. |
