Those words mean something to some of us, and I'd even go as far to say that those words mean something to most Canadians.
Heritage is IMPORTANT to me. I'm proud of Canada's relation to the Empire and our non-agreesive nature in forming our own constitutional union.
Side note: I'd rather have QEII on my money than a man who tortures, rapes and murders. |
werd.
I'm quite pleased that Canada remains a part of the Commonwealth and maintains that link with Britain. |

What did Queen Elizabeth do for Canada?
She gave us our constitution. If she hadnt agreed to sign it we'd have to go to war to get one like the US did.
That alone makes her deserving to be on a $20 bill notwithstanding the fact that she is our head of state..

She "GAVE" us our constitution??? i recall the constitution was written during canada's confederation. She wasnt even ALIVE then! And even if were to "give" us our contitution.. she probably would have no say in the drafting and written composure of it... like always.. she picks up a golden pen.. and signs the freaking thing without even reading it. |

Learn your history. Our constitution was written in 1982. Until then we were goverened under the British North America act and subject to the British Constitution. Queen Elizabeth the second signed off on the constitution.

You should be alittle more specific next time.. you forgot to mention the other half that STARTED THE WHOLE THING!!!
http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/const/
And once again... SHE SIGNED THE IN thing.. thats it. She may have "officially" given us the 1982 constitution act.. BY SIGNING it with her signiture.. but you make it as if she acheived something for canada. She just gave us our own constition by order of commom wealth law.. BIG IN DEAL! this is not something that gives her any repsect. She better ing give us our constitution.. she knows best not to piss all us immigrants off!
If you think her in signiture deserves all the this respect. you need a reality check. |

She didnt have to. She had every right to deny us our own constitution just like George III did with the Americans in the 1770's thus causing the American Revolution. See we got lucky with Queen Elizabeth II. It was her signature that allowed us to repatriot our constitution without bloodshed. As they say, the pen is mightier than the sword.
THAT is why she deserves to be on our money
PS: the other half that you point out was written by British lords and ascented by the British House of Commons. 1982 meant that our own House of Commons could sign off on any law passed instead of having to send it to a foreign country for approval. |

For her to lift up a pen and SIGN something means diddly squat. Terry fox achieved more than that rotting clam. She is just in the position to sign.. She is the queen.. it is her DUTY to sign. She can sign a million things for all I care.. it is her position that enables her to give Authority .. thats it. She was born into it.
If you think that her signing a that consitution makes her deserving to be all over our money.. have fun praising her "highness".. i could hork in her face.. now thats achieving something for Canada. |
