Oh i didn't it was being a child when someone is try to preserve the work of an artist through a public outcry against illegal MP3 sharing.
Your absolutely correct Ory, all artists want their music to be given free to everyone everywhere.
I hope airbase won't mind that I will be downloading his songs for free and sending them out to all my friends. I also make sure to tell them if they like his work to use P2P to download more free samples. |

The only problem I have with filesharing is professional DJs who use the mp3s to promote themselves. I don't see the harm in, say, someone like AlphaStarred mixing a couple of mp3's and sharing a mix on TA. That's just promoting the tracks, I mean, they're gonna get played on the radio and in livesets all over the place anyway, so why not. |

What do you suggest we do Nooben, say its ok for poeple to use illegal MP3's. Or should we all just eliminate those who have a different understand of music than you.
This thrad made it very clear that illegal MP3 use is wrong. If you don't understand that than I think your a fool. If you were honest in your convictions about illegal MP3's than you would be talking about AlphaStarred illegal use of them instead of trying to play a childish game of name calling with me.
If anyone should be in the postion to judge the content of my threads is should not be you; again you try to speak as if you are some gatekeeper.
You are nobody and you carry no weight in what you say. Unlike you, people read what I say and that botheres you, for if no one cared about what I said there would be no need to opine about what I said. |

the problem is that all his files he got are illegal. No artist gave him permission to use them. The professional DJ's buy their rights to use that work or producers give them the rights. He didn't do either.
His actions only encourage the other 1,000,000 bedroom DJ's to stop buying tracks and just download it.
Chemicial and Juno would love to have all us wannabe DJ's just download for free to promote, right? :rolleyes: |

...not to mention me relating numerous times i purchase digital d/ls and cd-rs, compilations, etc, but that appears to be beyond some people's comprehension :p
back on topic: i think cd-rs are siginificant in their own right. many a production, such as The Digital Blonde's remix of Point Zero 04' was never released on vinyl, which is very unfortunate :whip:
also Matt Darey, among other label proprietors, plans to have digital downloads to be bought, many i hear that aren't going to be sold as vinyl. |

With access to P2P networks, atleast he can hear the track, and there's a chance that he'll buy it. If he had no intention to buy it in the first place, then that's it, no money for the producer anyway.
Look, it's naive to think that you can get someone to do what you want. Flaming him won't help. Tell the moderators about his illegal mix all ya want, heck, they even locked his thread, but just let it go now. |

The problem is that artist make money from DJ sales NOT from general public sales. The DJ's are promoting themselves more than they are the artists. People will spend money to buy that DJ's CD or spend money to see him live. They are not going to go buy individual singles ( unless they are that small segment of music freaks).
The public buys mix cds and goes to clubs. They rarely would go out and buy artist single releases. They expect the DJ to do that for them through a mix. You are confusing Pop Music with Dance Music in the involvement of the general public.
If you think its ok for DJs to download illegal MP3's for free to promote the music than there would be No money made for the artist because like I said DJ's account for 90% of the revenues for an artist through legal vinyl and MP3 sales.
If you don't understand the seriousness that illegal file sharing causes for this industry than you are a fool. |
