Time to give up vinyl for CD! (pg. 8)

personally, the whole CD deck thing is killingthe industry, i mean how ing easy is it download a track paid for or for free then whack it on a CD. you think your releases for sale on CD will bring you better sales and more income... i highly doubt... possible marginal increase, but how freakin easy is it to buy a CD rip it onto your PC encode to mp3 put up on some webspace and give it to sumone, who then gives the link to sumone else... or even if you just rip the track, then say dood i got the new airbase track, you want it? ./.. yeah i do, i can brag to my mates with this, thenslowly slowly everyones got it for nothing, which is then burnt onto CD, which then goes in a CD deck.
cancel CD decks .. then you have vinyls, which some people rip too... but then it can only lie dormant on a PC or on a CD thats not gonna go anyfurther than a bedroom or a car stereo of sumone that actually digs this track, goes out and buys the ****** on cold hard 12" black ing plastic. simple as, mate.
YES I DOWNLOAD MUSIC!!! so ing what... if i hear sumthing that i like that i wouldnt have heard if i didnt download it thru curiosity, i wouldnt go buy the vinyl... or if i saw it in a record shop i wouldnt buy it without listening to it, so whats the ing difference.
the only way your gonna make more money from CD sales is from diehard fans who will buy anything with the airbase tag on it, cos they want it for materialistic value, or they dont have the internet.
if you DJ/producers are that bothered by mp3 CDs being made, then think of another form of media fast, then sumone else can come up with a method of ripping that and reburning it again on a £9.99 10 pack of blank whatever they are.
and btw, im a hardstyle/gabba/techno/junglehead so i havnt downloaded any of your tracks before you start moaning about you didnt get your 5 euros. seems to me from your above post that you are possibly in this for the $$$ as opposed to the respect.

Fine, I like it that people get to know me by mp3s (like i told you in the original post), but as stated before, once you get to know who your artists that you admire are, then it might be time to give them the support they need. Even if producing music aint work, it still costs more than regular living.
So you people that tries to justify the downloads (as its legal in some countries yet), you know its only legal because the laws for downloading arent yet settled. Give your favorite artists some slack and friggin support them, they need it. |

I am one of those people who download constantly. I feel no shame about it. Why? Because music is my life and mp3s have helped me tremendously in discovering new genres and artists. I admire plenty of artists and I do my best to buy the records (vinyls, not cd's) which I like. However, if a producer I respect makes an off track that simply sounds like to me, I won't waste my time with it, as I don't "whore" any producer/dj. You seem to be painting the picture that EVERY fan must buy EVERY track an artist makes. Am I right?
Hell, I just spent about $200 on vinyls within the last month and if that is not making a contribution to the scene, when what is? I don't buy cd's because I have no interest in cd's at this time and vinyl is more practical to me at this point. I should also point out that I buy when I can. If for instance, I want some older tracks, I may have to wait for quite awhile to buy it simply because the release not being in stock. However, I have a want-list and I keep looking for them until I can find them to purchase, in which case, you guessed it, I buy it. Also, there is a thing called money management. Not all my money is spent on records and needs to go to other things. I'd like to know if $400 for college books is cheap to you? So, therefore, if I download something I like, but need the money for something else at the time, my money will go to the other necessity rather than to records. This seems to be something the record labels and producers always forget, and the moral of the story is that people who download the music also buy it.
I think you need to calm down and chill. BTW, what does your post have anything to do with the quote you replied to? |

i do this for a living..... and im a diehard vinyl junkie. Storage problems? yep.... just a few!
Cds piss me off- about as much fun as genital warts to buy and about the same enjoyment 'scratching' a cd as having a swab sample taken from inside your japs eye. |

| There are indeed some tracks I would buy if they were out on CD's sold online, but unfortunately for me they only have vinyl for some of my favorites, and I don't have my own turntable. |
