I disagree.
I think music can be played anywhere, as long as the setting is appropiate. For example, a beach party, outside, a warehouse, a stadium, etc.
If the sound system is good than people can dance.
Just saying EDM is strictly for a club is limiting the growth of EDM. |
Sorry pal...you are wrong..It was created for the clubs....but i wont start a history lesson. You may like it everywhere, as do i and most everyone hear, but like Opera in a Opera house, EDM is meant to be played in a club to vaule it to the degree it was designed for.

that said, Tiesto's Mickey Mouse advanture is an example of where EDM out door parties should not be. Having a concert for Mickey Mouse is STUPID. That's an example of selling out. |
Seems like u are starying from the topic we are argueing...or is that a blatant attack on my name? Do u see ur arguement failing and turned to attacks? lol
Anyway i agree with what u said...but Tiesto sold out WAAAAAAYYYY before he got his Micky Mouse ears.

EXACTLY ! I hear tracks as either good or . I try not to make things complicated. |
Well i meant so so tracks....i have heard so many tracks that sounded 10x better in a club..i DO complicate things i suppose..lol.
I also never TRULY judge a track until i hear it in a club...the way it was MEANT to be heard.

If you are on drugs or excited these boring borderline songs will 'sound' better. It's just an illusion though.
For example, when you're drunk borderline ugly girls look OK. It's an illusion though. |
I see your point....but i dont do drugs or drink....and i am rarely exited in a club...been doing it too long..lol |

ah...well, then please enlighten me:
How many clubs in the world have the Phazon sound system installed and can afford to hire a sound engineer who knows what he's doing with a six-figure salary to work it properly?

What you said before ( correct me if I'm wrong) is that a track can be transformed to sound 'good' through a club audio system. I disagree. |
This is true.
It is VERY easy to make a good song sound ty in a club. Give me the Phazon, and with one deft movement on the equalizer I can completely destroy the music.
It is impossible to make a bad song good in a club. Bad songs are bad songs.
But again....this is getting OT. If a DJ has to rely on the greatest sound system in the world in order to sound half-way decent, then he's likely not a very good DJ at all. The best DJs in the world are the ones who don't need such upkeep, and can impress you under any system, club or rave, house party or field, Phazon or Tonka or ing Fisher Price. Or Awe 32. |

I'm sorry, I must have missed the memo:
Show me where God himself came down from the Heavens and inscribed on two tablets that EDM is meant for clubs only?
("...farmer's fields, movie studios, apartment lofts, banquet halls, backyards, barns, nuclear power plants, bank lobbies or any place with a nice, flat area suitable for dancing...") |

And it's not ing rocket science. Oh wow, he played a tune without beats to start out his set, he must be GOD!
If I roll my eyes any more they'd fall out. |

Armin van Buuren is clearly the number one dj.
Let's see... he does a weekly two hour set broadcasted worldwide that's been going strong since 2001 and never fails to entertain despite the whole "gone too commercial" bull. He can still rock out 7hr sets to promote an album that is about his weekly set. Aaaand still make tremendous albums and produce tremendous tracks.
Hmmm... and whose this Tiësto guy again? |

The reason why I don't like z-trip is very simple.
The music he plays is a blend of pop rap and pop dance. He isn't pushing anything new in his sound imho.
He can mix. He does do some creative with the music.
BUT at the end of the day its just another DJ playing rap and break beats.
And if this kid is going to play rap atleast play simething dirty and nasty. Don't play that top 40 rap . , someone like Ishkur ( who rips on trance from being commercial and weak) should have noticed this too!!!
anyone from NYC,Chicago,or Philly can see the medicore nature of his sets.
I can name atleast 100 better DJ's if pop rap w/ breaks is what you want. bad boy bill is better than this kid. Bad boy bill has the same skills this kid has but he plays better music. Listen to Bad Boy Bill sets from the early 90's and mid 80's if doing behind the decks is your taste.
Don't get me wrong though. The z-trip has skillz. Its ok music to chill too. BUT NO IN WAY is this kid #1. NO IN WAY |

Armin is the nicest person you will ever meet in your life. He loves music and loves his fans.
The problem I have with Armin is not with him but his business practices and his business partners.
Unfortunetly, the bull in his business pratices and buisness partnerships has spilled over into the music.
Armin needs to elimate a few people in his PR Dept., terminate a few record label partnerships, and find a new manager. I think if he does that his reputation would improve. |

Admittedly, I do not think ASOT is as good as it was due to him playing "The Newest Tunes Selected" hour, though I must admit it is still the best trance radio show out there. I would much prefer he reverted back to playing his own mixes like they have him doing in the second hour (which usually pwns the first hour).
Either way, he has retained quite a fanbase and is as loyal to them as they are to him.
...and I'd jump his bones :D |
