I'm looking forward to seeing Beltran for the first time in person. We all know that I hate Brown and Victor isn't Carlos, so I agree.... look for a shootout on Friday.
I just don't think Kris Benson is any good. Big Unit hasn't looked dominant but I saw him 2 starts ago and he was hitting 96 mph on the gun before he kind of tweaked his groin and started pitching more finesse. Unfortunately, I tweaked mine too in an unrelated event last night. Hmmmm..... ;)
Pavano just pitched a 5 hit shutout so obviously he's shaky..... |

hmm and yankees were still awful for ~10 years after that |
not true in 1985 when Don Mattingly(MVP) ruled the baseball world the mets and yankees had the same # of wins. They had more press maybe because they hadnt been good for the 15 years prior.1986 they won over 95 games I beleive, 1987 they also won over 90 . They never were completely off the map like the mets have been for the past 15 years except for 1999 and 2000. And the time when they completely sucked for 3 years in early 90's the mets were terrible also, that was the post coc years. |

Dude... they were using in '85 and '86 too. It wasn't until the trade for Kevin McReynolds. But really... the trading of McReynolds and Nails. |

Those Mets teams had more talent in just a few players than most teams for the entire squad. Too bad really.... such a waste.
You hear the story too about Kevin Mitchell killing that cat? That guy was a lunatic!
4. Kevin Mitchell beheads cat
Dwight Gooden, in his autobiography, says he once dropped in on his teammate, a "drunk and angry" Kevin Mitchell, during the 1986 season. Mitchell, holding a knife, was arguing with the few people there, including his girlfriend. During the long, drawn-out episode, Mitchell, to prove some kind of point, chopped off the head of his girlfriend's cat. |

| Yankees are winning again. Oh man... I swear. If the Yanks come in to Shea having won 11 straight... and then get swept by the Mets (Trust me, I don't think that will happen, just saying *IF*), the Mets would really own for a while. I actually feel good about the Mets chances because the Yankees have been playing against really bad teams for a while and the Mets just played the Cards and played pretty well against them. Should be a good series... |

| Yanks will still be playing a weak team after tonight. |

I hope all Yankee fans think that way. Cause then they'll say: "The Mets didn't win those games, the Yankees just lost them. Wait till we're at Yankee Stadium." |

It was a remarkable run (granted it was against two teams tied for last in the AL West, but still a feat) but the streak is over, as they pretty much handed the Mariners the win with all the errors. And of course Gordon losing again. :p
Jason Juice had a chance to be the hero, with the bases loaded in the 9th, but struck out in 3 pitches without even taking a swing. Michael Kay will have a field day talking about him on the radio.
So it's the 22-19 Mets (after they beat up on another last-place team, but avenged the season-opening sweep) vs. the 21-20 Yankees
Too bad there won't be the originally scheduled Pedro vs Kevin Brown matchup. :p |
