hehehe, zevan is cd-dj, that makes me feel a LIL' BETTER. :D well im interested donna, pm'd you...

so who out of the competitors besides moi mixed from vinyl, im just curious... i know gil did, some other ppl i cant remember, cable or something....?
dj Zevan
so ?? its not my fault i dont have the money to buy vinyl, and even if i had, i couldn't buy all the songs i want, because of the bad vinylshops here.
the only thing i can't do with my cd-players is scratching. witch i would never do even if i had turntables. the pitch-bends on my cd-player are handles, and not buttons, so i can handle the songs as well as vinyl-dj's.
i just don't have a beatcounter and i don't want to have one because i'm really against it.
but if that makes you happy, so be it ;)

i'm just in for fun
btw does anybody know when the judges are finished judging ?

Cable is an Mp3 DJ, he uses VTT 2 my knowledge, 1 fine DJ though. I was a vinyl DJ for most of my songs, had 2 use other sources for unattainable vinyl tho

ok this is the last comment i am gonna say

1. i dont have beat matcher and i never used one i use MY EARS!
2. how can u dont call CDJ as not dj'ing? if u think that then F**K U!
i work my ass to learn on those and my friend got turntables
and its almost the same! just the cue thingie u release with your hand instead of pressing a button. and as soon as i got the thingie (got 5 min) and i started to feel the touch of the engine (i mean by slowing and going faster with the vynil) its damn easy after u know how to use cd's.
3. i choose cd's cause here there are no good vinyls store.
they suck. u can find there now dumonode - never look back
this pisses me off.
so thats why i choose cd's
4. here in israel most of the clubs dj's with cd's so skywarp
what do u say on the audioence that want viynl...its the audioence that understands what real music is....it doesnt matter here as long u giving them banging tunes and show them the way 2 happiness
so here vynils or cd's doesnt matter.
5. cd burning - LIKE U NEVER DID IT(Yeah Right).
oh and belive me if i had a good track in mp3 and i have TT i would go and buy it!!! but there is no place to buy here so i had no choise.

Donna
Well i hope yer relaxed again now you said that.
Im glad the .il guys i know arent that sensitive.
I LOVE my .il friends, they can come over to holland any time and crash @ my place.
Yer just not reading!
I know a lot bout the mixin in .il,and i know that most of the guys use cd's there,i also know that its hard to find phat clubs where a dj can play any other then r&b.
One of the founders and a dear member of our crew comes from .il and one of our best dj's also.
All the guys of our regular crew started with vtt, when time went by they bought tt's,and now they wanna share that with other tt dj's.
Now,if thats a crime...shoot us dude!
Last thing im gonna say bout this: We are not looking down on cdj's or software dj's,we just wanna move on...GeeZ!
PkV
are you guys done with the flaming already?
IIRC this was a thread about the mixing competition not about CD DJ's vs vinyl DJ's yadayada.

i don't know about the other judges, but I'm sorta done judging the mixes. what's the next step?

ye I agree, i'm tired of this arguing bull . But that was def. not cool of saying "no CD DJ's or Software"......and what was that about PAYING??? Don't tell me skywarp that u don't have any Mp3's on ur computer ??? it's NOT like I'm SELLING my mixes !!! I'm doing it for the fun of me and other ppl...I think u guys r forgetting the main keys of DJ'n. "If You do it for Money, or Fame, quit now because you will not get it"

Donna: what if i will say "Love Parade" (example) is for everybody, exept for Donna....how would u feel ???

PS: What about that Vynil recording machine ??? i know a lot of people who use it. BUT I DO HATE TO SEE ARTISTS GET $0 BECAUSE OF MP3...SO I CAN'T REALLY SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THE COPYRIGHTS.

i dont think you guys are reading it properly cuz no one on this thread ever said cd mixing wasn't djing.

in reference to there being ty record shops in your area, well i buy 90% of my vinyl online. its costly as hell, just like ACTUAL TURNTABLES, but i managed to SCRAPE TOGETHER (see: EARN) enough money to start this *hobby* and still try to keep it going. Unless you're one of those cases where record shops simply dont ship to where you live (afghanistan??) then cost shouldn't be your main point of arguing. I'm quite proud of my vinyl collection, because it represents an investment of both time and money on my part.

If there was a track out there I really needed, unable to get on vinyl, I'd use cds in a second, so I understand the relevance on that point.

But I disagree Zevan, "touching a button" is quite a bit easier to begin a track, having used cd mixers as well. You don't have to worry about the force of your "pressing the button" OR warped vinyl.. and imo its easier to find cue points. Also, your pitch adjusts are always gonna be equal to each other, where btw 2 mk-1200s for example, the pitch zeros aren't necessarily the same, ESPECIALLY if you tweak your pitch adjust to the max (opening up your TTs w/ a screwdriver and turning the knob by hand) Not too sure what you're talking about "handles" for pitch adjust,
just going on record as saying I think cd mixing is a touch easier than from vinyl. no pun intended

I think we can all agree on the point that people who use beatcounters aren't djs in any form.

Donna check your PM>
:D :D

thanx for taking the time to read my opinion
dj Zevan
i wasn't talking about the pitch itself, but about the pitch-bend. that button has the same function as correcting the speed of the vinyl a bit with your hands; like you actualy touch the spinning wheel. On most of the cd-players this pitch bend is a button, and its always works with speed + - 8/16 (max speed of the pitch itself). But on some other cd-players,like mine, this pitch bend is a sort of handle. And how fast i accelerate the track depends on how long and how far i hold the handle.
the only thing i have to agree with you is finding the cue points.
warp on the song is not that correct as you think. if you warp on a song with vinyl, you can be sure it will start immediately. but on cd-players there can always be a little delay due to the electronica in the cd-player. sometimes when i push the start button, the songs start after 0.5 or sometimes even after 1 sec.
and about the pitch itself, the zero points are not always the same. The only moment they are the same is as you turn off or disable the pitch. on your belt drive, or what drive you have, turntable you can adjust every speed between zero and max. Thats not the case on every cd-player, my cd-player has limitations on that. i cant play songs at some speeds , due to the limitations of the electronica in my cd-player. my pitch works within intervals of 0.02%. You can think that is very good, but it isnt at all.

but so be it. maybe its better to stop all this whining because i think we are forgetting whats this thread is all about. i think we can discuss this for a long time, but i wont change a thing, because you still have to play with the stuff you have in your rooms. one has better quality equipment than someone else, probably depends on how much he did pay for it.

greetz and good luck to you all

>>>>TRUE THAT !!!

and about the "pitch bend" i don't have it... not too many CD Players use it now, i had pioneer cdj-100's and they have a circld shaped wheel which is the same as turntable (xept doesn't move)...and that's pretty much what i use.

I hate those vynil vs. cd discussions !!!
