Here are the rules for everybody:
Closing date for DJs: 10th December 2001
Closing date for mixes: 1st January 2002
There will be no exceptions for DJ entry, however exceptions will be made if people are having problems uploading with slower connections. My suggestion is to send your mix to somebody with a fast connection for them to upload.
Mixes must be submitted in 160kbps Mp3 quality, CBR or VBR, no Mp3-Pro files are allowed.
You may mix with:
a) Vinyl
b) CDs
c) Mp3s (no sequencer software)
All DJs must state how they have made their set, ie which formats used.
All mixes must be recorded live, by that I mean no sequencers.
You may plan and practise your mix, but not to the point that it becomes robotic.
All mixes must be uploaded with a cue sheet and tracklist. You may combine both into the cue sheet, but remember not all CD writers support that type of cue sheet so be careful when burning.
Contestants may not also be a judge, you have the choice to be either, not both.
You may download other contestants mixes.
You must mix trance, this rule bends as far as progressive and hard trance. Contestants will be disqualified for extended use of non-trance music.
Mixes will be marked on the following categories:
a) Track selection and play order
b) Beat-matching
c) Transition harmonics
d) overall judge impression and other areas
All sections contain 25 marks, no section is worth more than another.
Mixes will then be given an overall percentage.
You must actually mix to gain marks, snapping together of tunes is not allowed. That is not really DJing.
Judges and Administrators have the right to reserve and change/ammend these rules as long as there is a majority agreement. |

| R-Yeah it may be worth-while editing the first post to include the rules so lazy people who can't be bothered to read the whole thread not naming any names (ABT :p) know what to expect. |

can we figure out who's spinning what format, im not gonna talk about cd djs but mp3 mixing .... is kinda like childs play compared, and their track selection will have the option of more variety compared to the vinyl djs..
IMHO the judges should probably take that into consideration.. how about we all put a tag in the mix file name (mp3/cd/vinyl)
or just figure it out now? |

how bout making this a rule ??
=> All Dj's must upload, in addition to their set, a complete tracklist (preferably with start/end time-marks of every track
AND
a description of the equip used (vinyl/cd/mp3)+ wich software used (if any), mixers, tables, ... (actually, just your entire setup)

| Cable |
| just a note to the judges, it easy to tell if someone used a program like mixmeister cos the bpm's change in between songs, and the way it slows down/speeds up songs sounds pretty shetty:toothless , no pitch/key change occurs with changing the speed of a song. |

| Thanx for pointing that one out cable, but it'll be almost undetectable in something mixed in a program like ACID. Which really means we have to go on trust here. Don't worry though, I have advanced techniques of finding out, Cubase VST reveals all lies. |
