Don't kid yourself, if Boa has 200 people outside and they are at capacity - those 200 aren't going to be turned away = every club will overcrowd if given the chance.

I always have a good time at Guv - because I know what to expect when I go, if I don't think I am in the mood to deal with the heat, crowd, and everything else that comes with Guv - I don't go.

I just get tired of people complaining about Guv. You know it will be HOT, OVERCROWDED, AND BE FULL OF IGNORANT PEOPLE AND CRACKED OUT OLD ASIANS. espically on a big night - don't be surprised and upset when that is the case.

Hey now... the last time Cosmic Gate was in Viva they were holding the line and only letting people in as others came out. I only had to wait 30 minutes, but they WERE holding the line.

You're absolutely right on the bitching and complaining about Guv though. By now *EVERY* TA regular should expect it to happen, and either choose not to go, or suck it up and be a champ. Don't go, get what you expected, then bitch about it later. All Access at the Guv is the only way to go if you want some guarenteed space.

If you want space, All Access (Guv), Viva, System, Boa, and any Destiny party are the way to go.

Awesome night at Guv. The crowd was exactly as expected PACKED AND WAY OVERCORWED! Especially when you consider all the costumes and the extra space they took up. We got in line around 11:45 and managed to schmooze our way into the D'Luxe Lounge door by 12:30.
Lawler's set was really good in Guv, but his set for the after party in Charlies was AWESOME. The man is amazing and well worth fending off all the crowd.

Decor.. loved it!!

it was nice meeting you too. i kept forgetting people that night. all i remember was seeing you on the balcony again but saying "hey, you look familiar? are you on ta?" and you said "ya im tordan" and thats when i said "oh ya, we already met" and i felt like an idiot. lol

in regards to the decor, it looked nice but it ed up the sound a little bit in the d'luxe lounge. dj brent hayward mentioned that to be and we both agreed on that.

So here's the story of Toronto and Lawler from the Detroiter. :)

Left around 3pm from Michigan and got to Toronto around 7pm. We went to Miss Penny's first to drop off our stuff - LOVE THE PENNY! Got a healthy partier's meal at a local pub, and then proceeded to costume ourselves for the assault on the Toronto scene. We went to the new BOA location first - we were the FIRST people to walk through the doors. It's a spiffy place - easily twice as big as the old BOA with two floors. The sound system remains top notch and I cannot wait to devote a full evening to it. The downstairs was a little trippy in the fact that it is entirely WHITE - def not dark n dirty like most of the clubs I adore. The upstairs, meanwhile, is dark with metal framing set up for lights. There is also a VIP area in the far back of it.

We left around midnight and went to the Guv for Lawler. The line was insane - easly 1000-1500 people waiting outside to get in. We were listed so we only waited like 20 minutes - got in to hear Mark Oliver banging out choons. Sound wasn't so great but eh, it's the Guv was my thought. They put layers of cloth to lower the ceiling and used lights sparingly to make a dark, dirty atmosphere for Lalwer to spin in. When he went on.....oh my dear lord do I love this man. SICK!!!! I don't care WTF you say about Lawler in Chicago or NYC - he LOVES Toronto and it shows. He holds nothing back -and the crowd loves him for it. I took SEVERAL videos of him and the tracks?!?! Sick as ! And if you want to find TOTAs, hang out in front - RJ, Marge, Graham, Lars, Jamie, Josh, Cuzo - again, great times with you all. I wish Toronto were my home.

The biggest problem of the night was the crowds. Many people there don't care about the music, don't care who the DJ is, but just want to hump one another and provide spectacles to be grossed out by from the rest of us. But I played rugby for 4 years so a "human wall" don't mean much to me if I want to get from point A to point B. I know that any event at the Guv is going to require patience and tenacity to get through the crowd and that the best time of the night won't come till 3-4am when the drunks begin to pass out and wander homewards.

So we hear sometime in the night that after he finishes in the Guv, he's going to spin in Charlie's - a small room off the Orange Room. We then find out that you need a special invite in order to get in. FACK! Just as he finishes his set, I proceeded to race around like a madwoman interrogating everyone I can if they have tickets. The last person in the booth THANK GOD had tickets and we made it in. Only about 100 people were there. He started at 7am and it was Lawler and five of us jamming out. He played the sickest, dirtiest tracks - major bass lines and a sweet remix of "Sweet Dreams". The DJ booth was on the floor so you're like standing right in front of him, level with him. ACKK!!!!!! I took videos of this as well - fack! He autographed my invite pass - thank you Brian!!!!

And so we left the place at 9:30 am FINALLY. We went back to Penny's and then Bri and I decided to evade the drum n bass (love you girl, but we were in pass out mode) and went down to the lake to lie down on the beach in the sun and had a little nap. Grabbed some Thai food, chowed, and headed on home to Michigan. Overall, one of the better nights out I've had. I would put this at number 4 or 5 on my list of nights out.

Lawler is God. Don't argue, don't disdain, don't imagine otherwise - the man is heavenly gifted and Toronto is his golden gates to Heaven. :)

I will post pics and try to figure out how to host the videos I took tonight. I got a video of the "My house is your house" track as well as a good video of the whole floor towards the end and a video of him spinning in Charlie's. :)

Muchos love, it'll days before I cease to hear those beats in my head!

I had a very nice gay man hump my leg later in the night...I didn't mind at all...:happy2:

So yes...I agree, too busy for my liking. After party was good, but again, it got too busy so I left after 2.5 hours...

I just cannot have very much fun when I am not able to dance and enjoy the music...it puts me in a bad funk. I do however always make the most of it...thanks to all my friends and all the fellow TA's who made this Halloween 2005 a great one for me....

Hugs....

Next time...everyone should go to the Destiny/Temporal Rhythm party!! It was killah! Monkey style!!!

I should have dressed like a Sardine... would have fit in perfectly with all the sardines dressed like humans inside. But since I wasn't that smart the day of I decided I was gonna get drunk and stand in line till I realzed last call was about to hit. Jetted to the closest bar to maintain my halloween costume as a raging drunk.
