Friend called me in the evening after work and I decided to go down with her (spur of the moment). Got to Guv about 12ish and the lineup was insane. There were people lined up everywhere, and in every direction. The line didn't look to be moving at all.

We wouldn't have gotten in, we knew, unless we did something drastic. Bribed someone way up in line to move in with them. Only cost us $20. Good deal.

Got inside, and like everyone said, it was RAMMED. Liked that executioner dummy that was by the coatcheck (it scared the out of one guy who was standing beside it when it went off). Coatcheck took too long.

Club itself was insane. Ended up spending the first half hour waiting for two girlfriends to get out of the main washroom. Too many people.

Tried to find various spots, to no avail. Went out to the patio for a fair bit and just socialzed.

Came back inside for Lawler's set. He was bringing some serious pain, absolutley my favorite DJ by miles. Found a nice little spot with my buddies by one of the side bars.

It was at this time that I introduced myself to some faces that I recognized from pictures on this board (RabbitJoker and StereoPrincess I think?). Wanted to find some more but was liking the spot a bit too much and I hate moving around that place if I don't have to.

Tunes were insane, but friends were tired and wanted to leave around 6ish. How did Lawler's set end?

I'd definitely give the tunes a 10, but the crowd sucked ass. Pint sized asian girls acting like linebackers, too funny. One bumped right off of me and almost fell. I laughed my ass off.

Another thing that happened: as we got inside, a friend and I found a spot by the stairs to the patio. Some guy is standing on the little stage thing bitching at his friend (on his cell phone) to come find him. He looks foul and angry. At one point, he says something to the effect of: "Move it guys, I am coming down" (very guv bouncer-esque). He leaps towards us like a bat out of hell, jumping down from the stage. At this point, his leg gets caught on an extension cord (or something from a decoration) and he gets twisted up. He lands, one leg dangling (caught from the cord) and his other half struggling and asking for help. At which point we say, "Help yourself, jerk."
Made our night. Idiots like that shouldn't come out to party. ;)

All in all, music made the night. But like everyone said, crowd was too much. Good to hear the after party was tight.

Crazy crazy crazy night!!!

I expected the Guv to be packed but it was just ridiculous that night. When you can’t even stand still without being pushed then there is a problem. The crowd was very abrasive at times.

But it was definitely all worth it because the music was so good. It was my first seeing Lawler and he is simply amazing live. The intimate party in Charlie’s after was undeniably top notch plus there was room to dance:tongue2 .

Awesome partying with the TA’s as usual.

Highlight of night
Having to explain my costume to people. WTF????? :haha:

I missed David Guetta so I was hoping that I'd make up for it tonight.

Or just silliness

I suppose. After the first hour I was hoping it would move a little quicker and about 45 minutes after that I just decided that I might as well stay since it was a two hour wait already practicaly and well, it's Steve Lawler.

#1 reason why you should never go to the Guv on Halloween, even without a headliner there.

First year clubbing, it's only been since march for me so I'm still a little new to it all. I'm definately not going to the Guv next Halloween or on any holiday for that matter. I'll start looking for other venues from now on since I've been told that a lot of the best names in house spin elsewhere.

Lawler @ Guv:

What a disaster. A total dissapointment. I basically spent 6 hours walking around wtih mindspin finding a place to dance. The crowd was horrible and the vibe sucked. Lawler was trying to get the crowd going, but no one was moving. There was no energy in the place.

Lawler @ The Gallery:

Thanks to Margaret for getting me the pass to get in here.

Amazing! It was in The Gallery that I heard all of the songs that I wanted to hear. He played a reeeeally good set in there. Probably the best set I've heard him play. Highlights of the night: Layo & Bushwaka - Sly and Martijn ten Velden - Acid Test. The only thing that would have made The Gallery better is if the bass was heavier.

To be honest, I would have rather gone to Boa's opening night. Although The Gallery was fun, it just wasn't worth all the before hand. Halloween @ Guv = never again.
