Alright, I guess it's time to give my thoughts in on this rather interesting first party since I got back from Poland in September.

Going into this I was pretty hyped since I've never experienced a Hallowe'en party at Guvernment; but what happend in the mainroom from around midnight till about 4.30-5.00am was ridiculous. It was definately the worst crowd I've seen at Guvernment (never been there on a Friday though ;) ). There was WAAAY too many people that just completely did not belong there. Going beyond the music, you usually know what kind of crowd to expect from a Guvernment crowd but my expectations were way off; I think a lot of these people were there for the first time. And there was absolutely no vibe at all.

So yea, that's the crowd issue, but that wasn't even the worst part of the night. The worst part was that Lawler himself played a really good set in the mainroom, and it was next to impossible to even attempt going off to the music in those 4.5 hours. I had to practically keep moving around the whole night because if I ended up finding a good spot, then within 2 minutes people would notice there's a little more room. Luckily, for the last 30 or 40 minutes of Lawler's set there was enough elbow room to jump around for a bit, but in no way is that enough, and this is where "part 2" of the party comes in, and once again something special happens at "The Guvernment Complex" (these guys and their afterparties are on a role lately, no?)

At 6am when Lawler started in Charlies is when the party really started. The crowd was just the way you'd want it. There was people everywhere, but it never felt crowded. Everywhere I'd go there was enough room to dance, but nowhere felt empty. Finding a spot was never a problem either, even though there was a lot of people chillin out too. And EVERYONE who was there, was there for the exact same reason. T o bump, grind and groove to that funky, sexy, dirty house that Lawler rarely spins nowadays.

The Charlies set made all that in the mainroom worth it.

It was great seeing all of you again, and meeting a bunch of new TA's too

Graham, Marge, Ray, RJ, Ritch, Jon and Frank: wicked after-after party. Time well-spent with wicked company. Thank you :)

I agree with you 100% there. I started my night at Kabin (not my choice, but when I got to Guv at 12 the lineup was already crazy. basically i got dragged to Kabin) Anyways, Kabin sucked, left there at around 2:30 and was in Guv at around 3:30. Wasn't impressed with the night, considered just leaving around 5 because of it. Wasn't feeling ANY vibe whatsoever, and it was far too cramped (as pointed out b4 many times) The only place i could go without getting pushed all over the place was up on the stage, behind the booth. Finally after sticking it out, 6am rolled around; wow, what a change! would have thought it was a completely different party. Music started pumpin' and people actually cleared out a bit. Leaving room for everybody else to dance and have a great time. Main room was perfect from 6 till close. Great tracks, amazing vibe, and the perfect ratio of people to dance space. I'm new here, but I already have recognized alot of you around. Hope to see much more.

Alright, a lot has been said about this party so I'll endevor to keep my comments brief. First and foremost.... LAWLER DESTROYED THE PLACE. He isn't my fav for nothing! Steve owned my ass all night. There were times when I was so lost in the music I wasn't even sure where I was but it didn't really matter so long as I was able to move. All the pushy people, the heat, the lack of space, none of that mattered to me as long as the dark dirty beats were flowing! I can honestly say my top three shows for the year are LO3, Sasha vs. Lawler, and Lawler @ System. To hell with everything else, the music is all that mattered!

A big thanks to all the TAs that I ran into, talked to, partied with, etc. It's so great to head out to the club knowing you're going to run into a whole whack of friendly, good hearted, and like minded people. You guys kick ass! If only we could have the club to ourselves....

I have no complaints about this party. I had a hell of a time from start to finish.

The only thing that could have made the night better would be dogs.
