i saw this poll this morning also, and these type of polls to me are very sketchy. you cannot define the "greatest" athlete ever, because there are so many measurements on how to define what an athlete is. He/She could be strong, intellectual, have great agility and stamina, or just has a really good focus on how the game is played. however, you can name athletes that have dominated their sport during their time, and changing the course of how the game is played today. Therefore, in those standards, my top 5 are :

1. Michael Jordan
2. Babe Ruth
3. Tiger Woods
4(tie). Pete Sampras and Stefan Edberg
5. Joe Montana

Tiger Woods. yes. he is this good. he is practically changing how the game is played today, and the approach to win.

Pete Sampras and Stefan Edberg. they defined what the serve and volley is all about today

Joe Montana. i put him here, because he proved to everyone that you don't need the strongest arm, the best players in the league, or a twinked out coaching crew. you just need to be smart and know how to play the game. Yes he knew how to play the game, and he did it very well. Yeah yeah he won 2 super bowls with jerry rice and 3 super bowls with roger craig. But he won his 1st super bowl with a no name team that no one has heard of before, won his 2nd against a pretty good Miami Dolphin team that back then set offensive records, won his 3rd in dramatic fashion against the bengals, and won his 4th in domination. He could have won a 5th super bowl if it wasn't for bad luck against the giants in the nfc championship. That would have been a good super bowl : 49ers vs Bills. If people remember, after that 1990 season, things weren't the same in ol' san fran. they had to practically rebuild and fortunately won a super bowl again in 1995, but had to suffer the consequences of "purchasing" a team, rather than "building" a team. However, that is going to take another long post to explain what happened there.

Athlete is defined as: A person possessing the natural or acquired traits, such as strength, agility, and endurance, that are necessary for physical exercise or sports, especially those performed in competitive contexts.

There is a difference between "most athletic" and "best athlete." Tiger Woods must show strength, mental endurance, skill to do what he does. He does it within a competitive environment. To already possess 12 majors is very significant. At least I'm impressed....

Jordan was the most "athletic" I've seen with Bo Jackson being pretty remarkable. You could make a case for Deion Sanders too actually. Carl Lewis. Lance Armstrong has to be up there somewhere, even with his alleged doping.

speaking of film athletes, dont you guys think that Mr. T aka Clubber Lang from Rocky 3 woudve been considered one of the best athletes ever, I mean look at him, I pity the fool who challenged him, and when Rocky did he got his ass kicked, and in the rematch he gave Rocky a good fight again, and its weird how he just fell of the face of the earth (like Mr.T's career for a while actually)I mean he was really good, he coudve fought Rocky a 3rd time and beaten him, maybe Rocky woudnt had gotten brain damage and brought peace between the Soviet Union and The USA, and Apollo Creed would still be alive! Drago vs Mr.T for the title belt!

...Jonze, random white sox championship cap?

Materazzi said what his conversation was all about with Zidane:

M pulls Zidane's shirt

Z:"If you want my shirt that bad i'll give it to you after the game"

M:"I'ld rather have your sister"

Z does his move

:wtf: :haha:
