Lampard can win you a game with one kick, same as gerrard... Unfortunately Hargreaves cant... |
we used to play a 3-3-4 in highschool soccer. playing on the wing i never felt i got enough credit for doing the 95% work before a goal was scored.
imo its a lot easier to get a sublime pass from a beckham, gerrard, giggs etc onto the penalty spot and then bang it away ala van nistelrooy than it is to make that pass in the first place.
in their last game hargreaves was the man taking on the defenders, making space and putting in balls for the attack to smack it into the back of the net. imo without hargreaves that game wouldve been a lot less interesting to watch, and had someone connected with one of his plays, he indeed would have won the match (according to me). |

John Terry should be captain. He's the best striker in the world.
Make him goalkeeper too. He'd be the best in the world at that too. |

Unlike most players in england he hasnt played in excess of 100-120 games of football in 24 months. Lampard was a bees dick away from having a top world cup (got into great goal scoring positions just couldnt tuck it away). If hes chances went in the back of the net, the english wouuld be ass raping him as we speak...My point is hargreaves brings nothing to the squad. Its unfortunate Ledley King wasnt in the world Cup, we wouldnt even have heard of Hargreaves! |
Just as I thought, you don't understand football. No point arguing. |

As i said the benny hill show that is the England national soccer team will roll in again in 4 years, and the same will occur...Why? because fans like yourself are blinded by their nationalistic pride...While you rate mediocrity, your national team will continue to be nothing but under achievers... Its a shame because England has a quality setup with a quality league. They deserve better. |

Blinded by nationalistic pride? I'm not saying England performed well in this world cup or that I consider their performances acceptable. I'm saying Hargreaves did perform well and was our best player against portugal while Lampard went missing (as he had done all tournament, except taking countless shots that came nowhere near scoring)
You really think the team's success is the fans' fault? Yeah I can really see lampard, gerrard and co saying to each other 'don't worry guys, we'll play crap tonight cos the fans won't mind too much' |

This is why they don't let pommies coach the English Team, they are way too blinded by nationalistic pride, how can you expect to have an objective opinion about England when you were born and raised their Feelingverywierd? |

I watched the game, and didn't see much of substance from argentina. yes they should have brought messi on and shouldn't have taken riquelme off but they are the 'what ifs' that will always be there in football. based on what actually happenned, argentina are all show and little end product (except against an extremely poor serbia side)
|
What ifs you say, im sorry but Argentina basically just took the Germans out of the game with there possesion dominant game play and reduced Germany to counter attacking that hardly looked impressive. Nothing to do with 'what ifs', the fact is that if Argentina had played Germany out of the game instead of inviting them back it into it, Germany wouldn't have gone through.
I wouldn't be that quick to put Argentina down, when you have the whole team defending, there isn't as much space or room to play the game they would have liked eg Arg-Mex example of two attacking teams gong at each other, hard to say that both teams actually lacked substance |
