now i see it as the memoirs of a bitter old man :(

oakenfold may not have been hawtin or mills or andy page or anything like that - but no matter how well something is marketed, if its it wont fly. oh and he flew.

seriously man, just, seriously.

Britney Spears flies. Ashley Simpson flies and she can't even sing. And Paul Oakenfold flied.

Seriously man, just, seriously.

britney spears didn't dj

*audience gasp*

she got where she was not only because of good marketing, but because she had a team of producers & writers who knew how to make catchy pop music that sold by the bucketload. oakenfold didn't have a team of tune selectors with him in the DJ booth telling him what to play. voila, flawed analogy

I did enjoy the very beginning of the set, when Pete Tong showed us how the crowd was singing "Silence" during Pauls set in Liverpool I think it was.

The rest was very ty.

Well I’ve now had a listen to the set and I think it’s one of the better EM’s I’ve heard.

He progresses from hip hop to breaks to all out trance with each of those trance tracks entirely distinguishable from one another.

Absolutely loving the Oakenfold/Perfecto tracks.

Two thumbs up here, it’s got a great feel to it. It’s not pretentious, it’s not boring, it’s not formulaic like most trance sets of today – it’s a set that stands alone and it’s a set that would absolutely get a crowd going.

And in the end, isn’t that what ‘dance’ music is all about??

I really like hearing people state their opinions about music and such but how can you actually think that your opinion is hard cold fact? i mean thats going a bit too far, i don't know what your background is in music but i doubt it's over 20 years of experience as in Oakey's case, in fact i doubt most of you can compose or even mix, hence you cannot be in a position to judge someone's work, but mearly have an opinion. And also, remember, some people might think different then you do, and it's rude to call them brainless, simply because they think otherwise then you do. And to ArgentinaHouse,, after more then 20 years of mixing, as retarted someone can be, do you honestly think that ONE would STILL suck at mixing? really? then you must have never touched a turn table...

Cheers to all the tranceaddicts! :)

Oh ffs, could you people PLEASE stop using this line, it's the poorest argument ever invented! It's like saying you're not allowed to judge movies if you're not a director.

i'd agree with this. most of the perfecto tunes have a pretty solid vibe to them, more edgy & driving than most stuff around that tempo nowadays. i like how he lays off the anthem hands-in-the-air trance stuff to just one or two tracks near the end too, makes them all the more effective
