all of his mix cd's are tight. creamfields, great wall, tranceport, gu, a voyage into trance. hes never dissapointed me in that aspect. except maybe The Club. but that wasnt really a mix cd. |

And here's the mentality that's killing trance, at the very least. It's not so much thinking that old music sounds dated. Well, sure it does; styles change, the music is different. But then people go and say that's a reason it shouldn't be enjoyed. When a song has outlived its shelf-life, all of a sudden it isn't viable anymore. In a way, this makes people want less and less to play the song, further contributing to its "dated" sound, and starting a viscious cycle.
Sure, old sounds are "dated," but that has no bearing on how viable they are. These songs can still be played. If you don't believe me, go listen to Psy-T's acid mix in the DJ forum. |

I truly believe Oakenfold can give us the best mix of the year if he wants to.
when he Started to suck he declared it himself and he warned all of us that his going to new directions - i believe he said something like: "im not the number one dj anymore,i dont deserve to be at the top anymore"(2001) ,"My main Goals are not achieved yet"(1999) - i once saw this interview where he states that DJ'ing and producing EDM is not what he really wants to do and that he will persue his real dream which is messing with pop\rock in the future.
just check out:
Paul Oakenfold - Heineken Thirst Live@Pacha Buenos Aires (08-03-2003)
^its pretty solid in all the sea of junk he played back than and maybe we're going to experience another treat.
He selects the Dance Department music right? - a lot of dance department stuff really rocks IMO and it teaches us that Oakey still knows great music.
And his Mixing is way better than Tiesto's mixing at least...:p
Looking forward to the mix!:thepirate |
