First of all I would say it has 3 main points: Love God with all your mind, heart, and soul. Love your neighbor as you would love yourself. Read the scriptures for guidance. Its simple. | Your missing the big picture. You never mentioned the poor and oppressed. Who does God always side with? The poor, the oppressed. I don't know where your getting your influence (protestant theology maybe). Not from the bible obviously. Go and actually read the Bible with this in mind, and you will find the pattern that exists within it. |

Gods love isnt greater for the poor and oppressed and "doing good works" to get into heaven is exactly what Christ preached against. Loving your fellow man, as I mentioned, would imply helping him if thats what was necessary. And I think King Solomon would disprove your "God sides with poor people" theory as the bounty of Gods blessing has material forms as well as spiritual. |

stuff about fasting |
Im not going to throw Bible quotes back and forth, but logic would dictate that starving yourself for others to eat doesnt make sense and God is logical.
I think you're talking about something different than I am in general though, because I see you talking about the Bible and its guidelines for earthly behavior and Im talking about Gods love, generally.
So...Im probably not going to continue this because there is an entire Bible full of words saying things to do and to put them all would be to lessen the point.
So, just to sum up, what is your main driving point that you are trying to support by claims of fasting for hunger and God liking poor people? Whats the "therefor" |

God wants economic, spiritual, and social equality for all of his people. When some of his people do become poor and oppressed through others greed, (a common occurance in history and in the Bible) God does say that he disapproves of all of this. Refer to my other post on the last page. |

| I dont think anyones going to argue that God would want all of us to have equal shares hehe. Then again, the message of the Good Steward would imply that healthy stewardship of Gods bounty would return greater blessing. |

| If the Christian god sides with the oppressed, it is only because Christianity is the art of self-oppression. |

What that is, is a well known lie.
Creationism is not within the realm of science, thus it is not "beating" anyone in the "scientific proof category." |

That is known as "Pascal's Wager" - and it is a flawed argument.
It essentially states that if Christians are right they go to Heaven, and if they're wrong they lose nothing; if non-believers are right, they gain nothing, but if they're wrong, they go to hell.
Is Christianity the only religion available? How many of those other religions claim hellfire and damnation if you do not subscribe to them? How would you like to end up in someone else's version of hell?
What people forget, is that Christianity and atheism are not the only two options; there is not a 50/50 chance you'll be right. One must consider all available options, and indeed, consider all unforseen consequences. What's to say a hereto undefined diety is actually the truth, and he hates people who worships fake gods? Or maybe he hates people who put mayonnaise on fish-sticks? Maybe he likes people who use their deductive reasoning and critical thinking faculties to the utmost, and refuse to take anything on "faith"? Or maybe...not? |

its like a spot being on a wall and then you shine a flashlight on it. The spots still there. Its still a spot. the lights still light.Neither has been altered. They are just two different things, with two different properties that dont interact. |
They don't overlap?
- Abortion
- Gay Marriage
- Condoms
- Cloning
- Stem Cell Research
Just a couple to get you thinking.
My point is that religion is restrictive, and human nature is expansive. One cannot push boundries if there is an out-dated world-view impeding progress. Your analogy was overly simplistic and irrelevant to the true nature of the subjects you were trying to capture. |
