Religion: "Religion is commonly defined as a group of beliefs concerning the supernatural, sacred, or divine, and the moral codes, practices, values, institutions, and rituals associated with such belief."

Science: "Science (from Latin scientia - knowledge) refers to the system of acquiring knowledge – based on empiricism, experimentation, and methodological naturalism. The term science also refers to the organized body of knowledge humans have gained by such research."

Please stop saying stupid things.

Originally posted by Boomer187 I read through about the first 120 posts and had to stop. I don't like it when people talk about how factual and true science theory is. Theories are never proven true, an alternate explanation is proven false, thats it. The rest you must put your faith into.

They couldn't help themselves - relative to faith, science is nearly absolute.

Dude, just ask your parents. I'm sure they explained it to you at some point.

A few of the lads and I had a drunken debate last night about the existence of God...of course we weren't able to come to a conclusion ;).

About the existence of God, the beginning of the Universe, Creation, the meaning of Life and all the rest of it...It all comes down to the basic human desire to want to know and understand everything.

I heard a phrase that went something like 'If God were to explain to you how the world began, the meaning of life etc, it would be similar to you explaining the fundamentals of the English language to a field mouse.'

I.E it is completely pointless, and also impossible.

Just something to think about ;)

The phrase that you heard is a baseless attempt to stop people from asking questions. So if human instincts include the desire to seek answers, why whould you accept that?

It is not at all pointless, but it is impossible to know if the undetectable truly exists, or not.
