science is not a religion, no matter how clever that saying sounds |

I think you misread it. It is saying that in the past people put their faith and belief in what the church put out. However in the last century or two that has turned around and now people are putting all of their faith and belief in what scientist say. so, people are putting their faith into science much like they used to for religion.
does that clear it up a little? |

does that clear it up a little? | Makes about as much sense as 2+2=5. We take scientists on "faith" because we can't all be bothered to do the experiments and research ourselves; is a revelation from God reproducable? |

ah, I still don't think I was clear enough, or I don't think that you can believe that there are flaws and assumptions in science. |
